Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing (high volume & blue-collar focus)
- Drive end-to-end recruitment for blue collar roles approx. 50 – 100+ hires per month during peak seasons.
- Undertake recruitment for managerial roles, approx. 6 – 8+ hires per month.
- Partner with operations to forecast staffing needs based on volume forecasts and attrition trends.
- Utilize multiple channels: Job portals, social media, Walk-ins, Staffing agencies, Employee referrals, and Local Community Outreach campaigns.
- Screen applications, Conduct interviews, Co-ordinate background checks, and reference checks (where applicable).
- Build and maintain relationships with staffing vendors.
Onboarding & Orientation
- Design and deliver efficient group onboarding programs for new warehouse hires (fortnightly/weekly batches).
- Ensure timely completion of employment paperwork, and system access.
- Coordinate orientation on company policies, attendance expectations, and performance standards.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Act as the first point of contact for employee queries, concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Investigate employee complaints, attendance issues, performance concerns, and workplace conflicts promptly and fairly.
- Support supervisors in progressive discipline, performance improvement plans, and termination processes.
- Drive retention initiatives tailored to warehouse teams (recognition programs, feedback channels, shift differential communication, etc.).
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records, attendance tracking, and HRIS data.
- Administer leave management (sick, annual, maternity, FMLA-equivalent, etc.) and workers’ compensation claims.
- Ensure full compliance with labour laws, industrial regulations, health & safety standards (OSHA / local equivalents),
and internal policies.
- Support audits and government inspections related to employment practices.
Performance & Development
- Coordinate performance review cycles and goal-setting for warehouse teams.
- Identify training needs (safety, forklift certification, leadership skills) and coordinate delivery.
- Support succession planning for supervisory and team lead roles.
Compensation & Benefits
- Explain and administer company benefits, payroll queries, incentives, overtime rules, and shift differentials.
- Assist with annual compensation reviews and market benchmarking for frontline roles.
Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare regular HR reports: headcount, turnover, recruitment funnel, absenteeism, etc.
- Identify trends and provide actionable insights to site leadership.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.
- 6+ years of progressive HR generalist experience.
- Robust preference for previous experience supporting warehouse, distribution centre, manufacturing, logistics, transport, or retail operations (high-volume frontline workforce)
- Proven track record of high-volume recruitment and rapid onboarding
- Solid knowledge of labour laws, employment regulations, and safety compliance in an industrial/warehouse setting
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, BambooHR, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors) and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills — able to build rapport with frontline workers, supervisors, and senior leaders
Preferred Skills
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification
- Fluent in local languages - English, Hindi, and Marathi
- Experience with unionized or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with attendance/point systems and progressive discipline in shift-based operations
