Senior Azure Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Back End Engineer to join our Studio working in a Feature Team delivering change across our marketing technology estate. The role will be based out of our Engineering Hub in India and working in close collaboration with our UK colleagues in the Studio.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Accountabilities

- Project Delivery : Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of projects involving Java, Spring Boot and Azure backend systems, meeting both external and internal quality standards.

- Code Quality : Maintain high standards of code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to best practices and coding guidelines.
- System Performance : Monitor and optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of applications built on Java Spring Boot and Azure technologies.
- Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for backend solutions, including system designs and API documentation.
- Compliance and Security : Ensure that all applications and Azure deployments comply with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Innovation : Stay updated with the latest Java and Spring Boot features, Azure services, industry trends, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation within projects.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction : Ensure high levels of stakeholder satisfaction by delivering solutions that meet or exceed their expectations.

Responsibilities

- Java Spring Boot Development : Design, develop, and deploy applications using Java Spring Boot including backend services, APIs and microservices to meet business requirements.

- Azure Integration Services : Develop and manage Azure backend systems including Logic Apps , Azure Functions, Cosmos DB (using MongoDB API), Azure SQL and other relevant services
- System Integration : Integrate backend solutions with other enterprise systems,



including developing and deploying APIs on our API gateway, Apigee, to integrate frontend applications with backend services as well as system-to-system calls to systems like our CRM (Salesforce) and our policy admin systems.
- Collaboration : Work closely with product owners, tech leads, front-end engineers and other development team members to deliver cohesive and comprehensive digital solutions.
- Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to backend implementations, providing timely support and fixes.
- Testing and Quality Assurance : Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability and quality of the delivered solutions.
- Mentorship : Mentor junior developers and contribute to their professional development through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
- Configuration Management : Manage and configure backend instances.
- Continuous Improvement : Proactively identify areas for improvement within the development process, recommending and implementing enhancements to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Educational Qualification

Knowledge Skills:

- Must be an expert in Java (including Spring Boot), Apigee and Azure
- Strong experience in Azure s Cosmos DB (MongoDB API) and related Azure technologies Azure Logic apps and Azure Functions is a must.
- Strong experience in Kubernetes and Docker for orchestration and containerisation
- Experience in Azure DevOps for git repos, CI/CD and build/deploy pipelines
- AppDynamics for application monitoring and debugging issues
- Kibana for log analysis and debugging issues
- Sonarqube and Checkmarx for static code analysis and security scanning
- Able to use team collaboration tools Teams, Jira, Confluence, etc.

Experience:

- At least 7 years experience in relevant technologies
