Purpose of the Job:

The Estimator Data Center Operations supports the preparation, analysis, and development of project cost estimates for data center infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for detail-oriented professionals with a technical mindset who want to grow within data center construction, structured cabling, and mission-critical operations.

The Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and vendors to ensure accurate and competitive estimates that support successful project delivery and profitability.

Role & responsibilities

- Assist in preparing cost estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), and labour projections for data center construction and infrastructure projects.
- Estimation of BMS, Fire, Security, ELV & ICT packages, essentially all ELV Systems - Input study, generation of RFIs, equipment take-off, device selection, Solution design, Controller and Server Sizing, preparation of BOQ costing, thorough understanding of compliance expectations
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and scope documents to determine project requirements.
- Collaborate with project engineers, field operations, and procurement to validate material quantities, labor rates, and vendor quotes.
- Perform take-offs for structured cabling, electrical, and mechanical systems related to data centers.
- Support bid preparation and submission for RFPs and client proposals.
- Update and maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, and vendor rate databases.
- Assist with change order analysis, validating scope adjustments and cost impacts.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.




- Participate in pre-bid meetings to gather technical and logistical details.
- Contribute to process improvements that increase estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Preferred candidate profile

- Experienced in reading, understanding and interpreting complex and detailed, design drawings and specifications.
- Able to understand and perform industry aligned arithmetic and formulas that are required for developing cost estimates.
- Identify and meet customers needs, expectations, and requirements.
- Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office business applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and
- Industry specific platforms (Bluebeam, Procore, AutoDesk, etc.).
- Familiarity with up-to-date estimating software and applications i.e., Accubid, McCormick, etc.
- Experience in use of CAD, Revit or other 3D modeling software or viewers is a plus.
- Ability to work under time constraints and adapting to changing priorities with a positive attitude is essential.
- Excellent communication skills as required for the position.
- Bachelors Degree Construction Management, Engineering, or related and progressive industry experience. (Relevant experience and training will be considered in lieu of degree.)
- Minimum 5 years experience estimating large scale complex Structured Cabling and Low Voltage System projects.
- Experience in developing detailed and accurate cost budgets and estimates for Data Center Structured Cabling Systems is HIGHLY preferred.
- Experience in developing cost estimates for projects utilizing various contracting methods such as Lump Sum / Fixed Price, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Unit Price / Rate, Design Build, etc.
