Position Summary

The English Teacher for Classes III to V is responsible for developing strong foundational language skills among students, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and comprehension. The role focuses on making English learning engaging, interactive, and application-based while building confidence in communication and expression.

The ideal candidate should be passionate about language teaching, skilled in handling primary learners, and capable of fostering a love for reading, writing, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Instruction (English Language Teaching)

- Teach English to Classes III, IV, and V as per CBSE curriculum guidelines.
- Develop students skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Strengthen grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and creative writing abilities.
- Encourage fluency and confidence in spoken English through classroom interaction.
- Use age-appropriate literature, stories, poems, and comprehension passages.
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus and academic objectives.

2. Lesson Planning & Curriculum Delivery

- Prepare structured lesson plans aligned with CBSE curriculum and school academic plan.
- Design worksheets, assignments, reading comprehension exercises, and writing tasks.
- Integrate storytelling, role play, debates, and language games into teaching.
- Use phonics, visuals, and interactive tools to enhance language learning.
- Differentiate instruction based on varying student learning levels.

3. Language Development & Skill Building

- Build solid reading habits and comprehension skills among students.
- Develop writing skills including essays, paragraphs, letters, and creative writing.
- Enhance vocabulary usage and sentence formation skills.
- Improve pronunciation, diction, and spoken English fluency.
- Encourage expressive communication and classroom participation.

4. Reading Culture & Literary Engagement

- Promote reading habits through storybooks, poems, and age-appropriate literature.
- Organize reading sessions, storytelling activities, and book discussions.
- Encourage library usage and independent reading habits.
- Develop interest in language through creative and interactive activities.
- Foster appreciation for literature and expressive communication.

5. Assessment & Evaluation

- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments including tests, worksheets, and oral evaluations.
- Assess reading, writing, comprehension,



and speaking skills.
- Design competency-based and application-oriented questions as per CBSE guidelines.
- Maintain detailed academic records of student progress.
- Provide constructive feedback and remedial support where required.

6. Classroom Management

- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and language-rich classroom environment.
- Encourage active participation, discussions, and collaborative learning.
- Promote confidence in communication without fear of mistakes.
- Maintain discipline while ensuring a supportive and engaging atmosphere.
- Foster curiosity and creativity in language use.

7. Creative & Experiential Learning

- Conduct storytelling, role play, debates, and dramatization activities.
- Organize writing competitions, poetry recitations, and speech activities.
- Use visual aids, flashcards, and multimedia tools for language learning.
- Encourage journal writing and creative expression activities.
- Integrate real-life communication scenarios into learning.

8. Student Development & Support

- Identify students with language difficulties and provide remedial support.
- Support advanced learners with enrichment activities in writing and communication.
- Build confidence in spoken and written English.
- Encourage participation in competitions, debates, and school events.
- Foster communication skills essential for academic success.

9. Parent Communication & Engagement

- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and academic discussions.
- Provide feedback on reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Suggest home-based reading and language development activities.
- Build strong home-school collaboration for language improvement.

10. Technology Integration

- Use Smart Boards, digital content, and multimedia resources for teaching English.
- Integrate educational apps and online reading platforms where applicable.
- Support blended learning and digital assignments.
- Use audio-visual tools to improve listening and pronunciation skills.

11. Administrative Responsibilities

- Maintain attendance records, lesson plans,



and student assessment data.
- Prepare worksheets, reading materials, and teaching resources.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and academic reviews.
- Coordinate with Primary Coordinator for curriculum execution.
- Contribute to development of language resources and question banks.

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, English Language, or related discipline (mandatory).
- B.Ed. (Primary/Elementary Education preferred or mandatory as per school norms).
- Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / TTC) will be an added advantage.

Experience

- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in CBSE schools preferred.
- Experience in teaching English at primary level (Classes III–V).
- Freshers with strong English communication skills and teaching aptitude may be considered.
