Job Description: Associate Teacher (Classes I & II)
Position Summary
The Associate Teacher for Classes I & II supports the Mother Teacher in delivering a structured, engaging, and nurturing classroom experience for young learners. The role involves assisting in academic instruction, classroom management, activity facilitation, and student care to ensure smooth execution of daily learning activities.
The ideal candidate should be patient, energetic, caring, and passionate about working with young children while supporting foundational learning and overall development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Classroom Support & Assistance
- Assist the Mother Teacher in daily classroom teaching and learning activities.
- Support students during academic tasks, worksheets, and guided practice sessions.
- Help maintain classroom discipline in a positive and child-friendly manner.
- Provide individual attention to students who require additional academic or behavioral support.
- Assist in smooth transitions between activities and structured routines.
2. Academic Support (Foundational Learning)
- Reinforce concepts taught by the Mother Teacher in English, Mathematics, and EVS.
- Support students in developing reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
- Assist in numeracy development including counting, number recognition, and basic operations.
- Help students complete classwork, assignments, and practice exercises.
- Support use of teaching aids, visuals, and interactive learning tools.
3. Activity-Based Learning Support
- Assist in conducting storytelling, rhymes, role-play, and interactive activities.
- Support art, craft, drawing, coloring, and creative expression tasks.
- Help organize group activities, games, and experiential learning sessions.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in classroom activities.
- Assist in preparing and distributing learning materials and worksheets.
4. Child Care & Emotional Support
- Provide care and attention to ensure students feel secure, comfortable, and included.
- Help children adapt to classroom routines and school environment.
- Support development of basic habits such as discipline, hygiene, and organization.
- Assist in managing emotional needs of young learners with patience and empathy.
- Encourage positive behavior and social interaction among students.
5. Classroom Organization & Resource Management
- Help organize classroom materials, learning corners, displays, and teaching aids.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom.
- Support preparation of worksheets, craft materials, and activity kits.
- Help set up classroom for events, celebrations, and special activities.
6. Assessment & Observation Support
- Assist in observing student progress and classroom behavior.
- Help maintain student portfolios, worksheets, and activity records.
- Support Mother Teacher in informal assessment activities.
- Share observations regarding student learning and behavior when required.
- Assist in documenting developmental progress of students.
7. Health, Hygiene & Safety Support
- Supervise students during breaks, meals, and restroom visits when required.
- Ensure students follow hygiene practices such as handwashing and cleanliness.
- Support maintenance of a safe and hazard-free classroom environment.
- Report any safety or health concerns to the Mother Teacher immediately.
- Follow all school child safety and protection guidelines.
8. Co-Curricular & Event Support
- Assist in organizing school events, celebrations, festivals, and special days.
- Support children during performances, rehearsals, and classroom activities.
- Help in decoration and preparation of thematic classroom displays.
- Participate in storytelling sessions, cultural programs, and school functions.
9. Parent Communication Support
- Assist Mother Teacher in sharing routine updates with parents when required.
- Help maintain polite and professional communication with parents.
- Support in conveying basic information about student activities and progress.
- Ensure consistency and clarity in communication shared with parents.
10. Administrative Support
- Assist in maintaining attendance records and classroom documentation.
- Help organize teaching materials and learning resources.
- Support preparation of lesson-related materials and activity kits.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school activities.
Required Qualifications
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline (mandatory).
- Diploma/Certification in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / D.ED preferred).
- B.Ed. (Primary Education) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 0-3years of experience in primary or early childhood education preferred.
- Freshers with strong interest in teaching and child development are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in CBSE or structured school environments will be an advantage.
