AVP - Data Science is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping the data science strategy, architecture, and governance across the organization. The candidate should have a minimum of 12 years and up to 20 years of experience in data science, analytics, and related fields, with a proven track record of leading large teams, delivering scalable models, and driving measurable business impact. The AVP will collaborate with the CTO, CDO, and business leaders to translate complex problems into data-driven solutions, establish governance and best practices, and foster a culture of experimentation, collaboration, and responsible AI.

Key responsibilities include:

- Define and execute the data science strategy aligned with business objectives, including roadmap planning, metrics, and impact assessment.
- Build and lead multiple data science teams across projects, mentoring senior scientists and engineers, and scaling capabilities as the organization grows.
- Oversee end-to-end data science programs from problem framing,



data acquisition, feature engineering, modeling, deployment, monitoring, and model governance.
- Partner with technology, product, and business units to champion data-driven decision making and ensure rapid, responsible delivery of analytical products.
- Establish data governance, quality, privacy, and security standards; drive ethical AI practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, communicate complex results clearly to non-technical audiences, and translate insights into actionable business initiatives.

Core Skills

- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data science toolkits; strong background in ML/AI algorithms, statistical modeling, experimentation design, and causal inference; hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), data engineering, MLOps, feature stores, model deployment, and monitoring; familiarity with data visualization and storytelling.
- Team Management: Proven ability to recruit, ment, and grow high-performing data science teams; set goals, manage budgets, define career paths, and foster cross-functional collaboration and inclusive leadership.

Optional Skills

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management across senior leadership and business units.
- Domain experience in finance, healthcare, retail, or manufacturing; strong data governance, privacy, and ethics knowledge.
- Experience with agile project management, vendor relationships, and cost optimization.
- Interest in advanced topics such as ML explainability, AI governance, and scalable MLOps ecosystems.
