Job Objective
We are seeking an experienced Edge Software Manager with a strong background in .NET/C# application development and C++ programming to lead our software team in building and managing Level 2 (L2) supervisory control and data systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines deep technical expertise with team management skills to deliver high-quality, compliant, and high-performance software solutions.
The role bridges enterprise .NET application development and real-time/embedded C++ systems, ensuring seamless integration between L2 software layers, PLC/hardware interfaces, and manufacturing execution systems (MES). The incumbent will oversee the full development lifecycle - from architecture design and modernization of legacy systems to performance optimization and cross-team collaboration.
C. Primary Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage a cross-functional team of .NET and C++ developers focused on L2 pharma manufacturing systems.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers, foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and uphold software quality best practices.
- Plan sprints, assign tasks, and track delivery in agile/scrum workflows.
2. .NET Application Development
- Oversee design, development, and modernization of backend modules using .NET Core / .NET 6+.
- Architect and build RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API following SOLID and clean architecture principles.
- Drive migration of legacy WPF/WCF/.NET Framework systems to scalable,
secure REST-based architectures.
- Support Docker-based containerization and cloud/on-premise deployments.
- Ensure implementation of unit testing (xUnit / NUnit / MSTest) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) responsibly.
. L2 Systems Architecture & Integration
- Design and govern the software architecture for L2 supervisory systems in pharma manufacturing.
- Ensure seamless data exchange between L2 software, MES, SCADA, and L1 device layers.
- Define integration protocols and APIs for device communication and data acquisition.
- Oversee performance, reliability, and security of manufacturing software systems.
. Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all software development aligns with pharma industry regulatory requirements (GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, etc.).
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for architecture, APIs, and integration interfaces.
- Support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for manufacturing software systems.
D. Key Result Areas
- On-time delivery of L2 software modules and modernized backend services.
- High-quality, unit-tested, and well-documented codebase.
- Smooth integration between .NET applications and C++/hardware layers.
- Improved system performance through CUDA/GPU optimization and profiling.
- Regulatory compliance of all delivered software in pharma manufacturing context.
- Team capability growth through active mentoring and technical leadership.
E. Required Skills & Experience
Core Technical Skills
- 12+ years of relevant software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in .NET Core / .NET 6+ and C# including modern features, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Solid experience in C++ (11/14/17/20) including modern C++ features and OOP design principles.
- Hands-on experience with CUDA programming for GPU-based parallel computing.
- Expertise in Linux development environments (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.).
- Experience in device integration using C++ with embedded systems and hardware interfaces.
- Proficiency in developing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization, particularly for GPU-accelerated applications.
- Proficiency in debugging multi-threaded environments.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Experience with version control systems (Git).
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Proven ability to lead a team of engineers with strong communication and mentoring skills.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and design principles.
- Experience working in agile/scrum development environments.
- Solid problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams (QA, DevOps, Product, PLC/Hardware).
