Job Description

This role is for an Enterprise Network Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Routing, Switching, Wireless, and basic Network Security. The client is looking for someone who can configure, troubleshoot, and support enterprise network infrastructure rather than someone who has only monitored networks.

Routing

Routing is one of the most important skills for this role. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, Static Routing, and Default Routing. They should be able to troubleshoot routing issues and have a basic understanding of network design. Experience with Cisco or Extreme Networks devices is preferred. Knowledge of SD-WAN, especially FortiGate SD-WAN, is an added advantage.

Switching

The candidate should have excellent knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching concepts. They should be comfortable working with VLANs, VLAN Tagging, EtherChannel, VTP, VPC, HSRP, VRRP, STP, BPDU, and Root Bridge Election. Hands-on experience with Cisco or Extreme switches is preferred.

Wireless Technologies





The client expects experience with enterprise wireless solutions, preferably Aruba. Experience with Cisco or Ruckus wireless is also acceptable. The candidate should understand Access Point configuration, SSID creation, Authentication and Authorization, VLAN integration, Firmware upgrades, Wireless Bands (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), NAC integration, and troubleshooting wireless issues.

Security

The role requires basic knowledge of network security concepts rather than deep firewall administration. Candidates should understand FortiGate (preferred), Palo Alto, or Cisco ACS firewalls. They should know NAT, Firewall Architecture, Traffic Flow, IPsec VPN, WAF basics, Proxy concepts, NAC, and Firewall High Availability (Switchover).

Key Skills the Client Will Prioritize

- Strong Routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)

- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Cisco networking experience
