Role & responsibilities

The incumbent shall be responsible for overall commercial role such as :

- Strategic Sourcing & Planning: Develop and implement annual procurement strategies for bulk raw materials including iron ore, coking/non-coking coal, steel scrap (HMS/TMT), ferroalloys, pellets, and refractories.
- Cost Optimization & Negotiation: Drive aggressive cost-saving initiatives through direct OEM sourcing, global tendering, reverse auctions, and negotiating long-term agreements (LTAs) or MoUs.
- Vendor Development & Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain a diversified, high-performance vendor base (domestic and international). Conduct vendor audits and rate vendors on quality and timely delivery.
- Inventory & Logistics Management: Optimize inventory levels and working capital (using SAP MM or similar) to prevent stockouts or excessive inventory. Coordinate inbound logistics, including rake movements and transportation.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor and forecast commodity price trends (LME, coal prices, freight rates) to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Lead the procurement team and work closely with Production, Quality Control, and Finance departments to ensure material quality matches production requirements.

Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, and company procurement policies.
- CAPEX / OPEX/Spares/ Consumerable Procurement Planning
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Cost Savings/Avoidance: Percentage reduction in raw material procurement cost.
- Inventory Turn Ratio: Optimization of working capital.
- Supplier Performance: On-time delivery and quality acceptance rates.
- Production Continuity: Zero shutdowns due to material shortages.
- Raw Material Yield/Variance: Actual usage vs. planned usage.

Preferred candidate profile

Graduate Engineer with PG in Material Management with 20 to 30 years of experience from Steel manufacturing company.

Must have experience of Raw Material Purchasing like Iron Ore, Coal, Coking Coal, Scraps, Ferro Alloys, Pellets etc.

Maximum age limit is 55 years.
