Role & responsibilities

- Provide individualized lactation consultation to antenatal and postnatal mothers.
- Assess breastfeeding techniques, infant feeding patterns, and maternal concerns.
- Educate mothers and family members on breastfeeding benefits, positioning, latching techniques, milk expression, storage and recent born feeding cues.
- Identify and manage common breastfeeding challenges, including engorgement, sore nipples, mastitis, low milk supply, and infant latching difficulties.
- Offer emotional support and confidence-building to mothers during their breastfeeding journey.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with Obstetricians, Pediatricians, Neonatologists, Nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct breastfeeding awareness sessions, patient education programs, and health promotion activities as required.
- Stay updated with current evidence-based lactation practices and hospital guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to infection control policies and patient safety standards.
