Job Summary

The Cost Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for rubber roll manufacturing projects. The role involves analyzing customer requirements, reviewing technical drawings and specifications, calculating material and manufacturing costs, coordinating with production and procurement teams, and supporting the sales team with timely quotations while ensuring targeted profitability.

Key Responsibilities

- Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for rubber rolls, including raw materials, machining, rubber compounding, bonding, grinding, finishing, and inspection.
- Estimate material consumption, labor hours, machine time, tooling, and overhead costs.
- Coordinate with design, production, procurement, quality, and sales teams to obtain technical and commercial inputs.
- Prepare and submit accurate quotations within specified timelines.
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Maintain and update cost databases, standard costing sheets, and pricing models.
- Compare estimated costs with actual production costs and recommend improvements.
- Support negotiations by providing technical and commercial clarifications.
- Monitor fluctuations in raw material prices and incorporate updated costs into estimates.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications.
- Generate estimation reports and maintain proper documentation for future reference.

Required Qualifications





- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
- 38 years of experience in cost estimation, manufacturing engineering, or commercial estimation.
- Experience in the rubber products, rubber rolls, polyurethane rolls, industrial rollers, or engineering manufacturing industry is preferred.

Required Skills

- Strong understanding of rubber roll manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of rubber compounds, metal cores, machining, rubber bonding, vulcanization, grinding, and finishing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of manufacturing cost structures and standard costing methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and engineering drawings is an advantage.
- Solid analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple quotations and meet deadlines.
