Role Objective:
Lead and manage MEP design delivery across assigned region, ensuring optimised and compliant designs are developed from concept through VFC release. Drive design standardisation, consultant performance, and cross-functional coordination while upholding Lodhas quality benchmarks, timelines, and cost targets. Serve as the primary regional interface between design, construction, and business teams for all MEP disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead MEP design delivery for all projects within the assigned region, covering Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing disciplines.
- Manage and mentor a regional team of MEP design managers and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Coordinate with the MEP Design Head to align regional design strategies with organisation-wide goals, policies, and benchmarks.
- Champion design innovation, value engineering, and sustainability best practices across regional projects.
- Drive standardisation of design deliverables, specifications, and details across the region to ensure consistency and efficiency
Pre Contract Stage:
- Pre-Contract Stage:
- Collaborate with Planning, Construction Management, Finishing, and other departments to establish MEP design schedules aligned with the overall Project Time Schedule.
- Take full ownership of design delivery from Concept through SD, DD, Builders Work, Tender, and VFC releases within DDS timelines for all regional projects.
- Lead coordination with Architects, Structural Consultants, and other design disciplines to ensure optimised, integrated MEP design solutions.
- Review and ensure quality and compliance of consultant deliverables against Lodha benchmarks, codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Coordinate with DCO for budget preparation at Concept and DD stages; proactively identify and recommend Value Engineering options and cost-effective alternatives.
- Oversee preparation and correctness of all Authority submissions for the region, ensuring completeness prior to submission.
- Lead review of consultant empanelment processes and evaluate technical performance of consultants and OEMs at the regional level.
- Attend prebid technical discussions with contractors, procurement teams, and CM to resolve technical issues and provide expert inputs.
- Attend POCs for vendor-based designs for specialist and custom items within the region.
- Provide inputs to formulation and review of policy and standard documents relevant to MEP design.
Post Contract Stage:
- Review construction documents including shop drawings, material submittals, and GA drawings submitted by contractors within stipulated timelines.
- Provide inputs for budget signoffs and ensure seamless handover of design packages to Site Teams.
- Attend and lead coordination meetings at HO and regional project sites as required.
- Track and consolidate OEM and contractor performance feedback against design intent for the region.
Construction Management:
- Support MEP Design Head in establishing work flow sequences for MEP packages and consolidate inputs across departments including CM, Finishing, Architects, Interior, and Structure.
- Review high-value and major CRNs at the regional level and assist in their closure.
- Facilitate design and site coordination; resolve technical problems and provide guidance to execution teams and contractors on design aspects.
- Assist project teams in validating and raising NCRs to contractors on quality and compliance issues.
- Document and institutionalize project execution learnings into design and policy documents.
Team Management:
- Build, guide, and retain a high-performing regional MEP design team.
- Identify skill gaps and facilitate training and upskilling initiatives for team members.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and striving for excellence.
- Suggest and implement creative approaches to improve construction speed, reduce cost, and enhance quality.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Deep technical expertise across Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design systems for large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
- Strong understanding of relevant Indian and international codes, standards, and regulatory / authority approval processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across a region with complex stakeholder environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget management, value engineering, and cost optimisation.
- Proficiency in design review tools, coordination platforms (e.g. AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, Navisworks), and project management systems.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop multi-disciplinary design teams.
Qualification & Work Experience:
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 20 years of experience working with an International / Large MEP Contracting or Design Consultancy firm, or a reputed large Real Estate / Infrastructure company in India.
