Job Description: Azure Network Engineer
Position Overview
The Azure Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and
managing cloud-based network infrastructures on Microsoft Azure. This role requires deep
expertise in Azure networking services, robust understanding of network security
technologies, and hands-on experience with NGFW platforms such as Palo Alto.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Design & Implementation
- Design and deploy Azure Virtual Networks (VNets) and related components.
- Configure subnets, IP addressing, routing, and VNet Peering.
- Implement Site-to-Site VPN and ExpressRoute for hybrid connectivity.
- Set up Azure Load Balancers and Application Gateways (WAF) for secure traffic
distribution.
2. Network Security
- Implement and manage Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, and Palo Alto
Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW).
- Configure Azure DDoS Protection and secure inbound/outbound traffic flows.
- Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewall policies, objects, security rules, SSL decryption,
NAT policies, and threat management.
- Integrate with Azure Active Directory for access control and identity security.
3. Operations & Troubleshooting
- Monitor network health using Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, and Traffic Analytics.

- Troubleshoot latency, connectivity, routing issues, and Palo Alto firewall-related incidents.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security and performance standards.
4. Automation & Optimization
- Use Azure CLI, PowerShell, and ARM Templates for resource automation.
- Continuously optimize network performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
5. Collaboration & Support
- Work with cloud,



security, and infrastructure teams to integrate solutions.
- Provide expert-level support for network and Palo Alto firewall-related incidents.
- Stay updated with the latest Azure networking and Palo Alto NGFW features, updates, and
best practices.

Core Technical Skills
- Microsoft Azure Networking (Expert level)
- Azure Virtual Networks (VNet), Subnets, Routing, VNet Peering
- VPN Gateways, Site-to-Site VPN, ExpressRoute
- Azure Firewall, NSG, DDoS Protection
- Azure Load Balancer, Application Gateway (WAF)
- Network monitoring: Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, Traffic Analytics
- Palo Alto NGFW: Security policies, threat prevention, URL filtering, NAT, SSL decryption,
Panorama management
Networking Fundamentals
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Routing, Load Balancing

- Knowledge of network security standards, encryption, and firewall configurations
Automation & Tools
- PowerShell & Azure CLI for automation
- ARM Templates for infrastructure deployment
- Experience with automation for Palo Alto (Panorama templates/scripts preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network and firewall issues efficiently
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect (Preferred)
- Palo Alto Certifications: PCNSA / PCNSE (Highly Preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with cloud, DevOps, and security teams
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
