Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IoT Integration Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable IoT ingestion pipelines from edge devices to cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in AWS IoT SiteWise, AWS IoT Core, and AWS IoT Greengrass, with experience in industrial telemetry systems, asset modeling, and cloud-native integrations.
This role is an individual contributor position with strong domain ownership and cross-functional collaboration responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
As an IoT Integration Software Engineer, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain IoT ingestion pipelines from edge devices to cloud platforms.
- Serve as the technical expert for AWS IoT SiteWise, including:
- Asset models
- Asset hierarchies
- Data semantics
- Work with AWS IoT Greengrass and edge-based integrations to support secure and reliable telemetry ingestion.
- Collaborate with hardware and Operational Technology (OT) integration teams to perform asset mapping between physical devices and digital models.
- Develop tooling, validation frameworks, and diagnostics to ensure telemetry quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Partner closely with application engineering teams to expose IoT data through:
- APIs
- Event streams
- Application-ready interfaces
- Translate industrial and operational concepts into data structures consumable by digital applications.
- Troubleshoot telemetry and ingestion issues across environments and perform root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to standards, documentation, and best practices related to:
- Asset modeling
- Ingestion patterns
- Data contracts
- Stay updated with emerging IoT, telemetry, and cloud-native integration technologies.
- Ensure compliance with ISMS policies and procedures.
Success Criteria (First 6 12 Months)
The successful candidate will:
- Support production-grade industrial telemetry ingestion pipelines.
- Establish maintainable asset models aligned with real-world physical systems.
- Reduce ingestion-related defects and improve telemetry data quality.
- Become a trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AWS IoT SiteWise and IoT integrations.
- Improve observability, diagnostics, and monitoring for asset mapping and ingestion failures.
- Enable application teams to consume IoT data efficiently by abstracting underlying IoT complexities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 4 7 years of skilled software development or integration experience.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language:
- Python
- TypeScript
- Java (preferred)
- Experience working with cloud-based IoT or telemetry systems.
- Understanding of event-driven architectures and streaming data platforms.
- Experience collaborating with software, platform, and hardware-adjacent teams.
- Familiarity with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with AWS IoT SiteWise, including:
- Asset models
- Asset hierarchies
- Data modeling
- Experience with AWS IoT Greengrass or similar edge-to-cloud integration platforms.
- Experience in Industrial IoT (IIoT)
or Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Exposure to:
- RTAC systems
- DCIM systems
- Industrial control telemetry platforms
- Experience handling time-series data and telemetry ingestion architectures.
- Familiarity with containerized applications and cloud-native deployment models.
- Experience integrating IoT telemetry into web applications and SaaS platforms.
- Exposure to GenAI/LLM-based solutions for:
- Diagnostics
- Metadata enrichment
- Operational insights
- Understanding of:
- Data validation
- Observability
- Monitoring
- Ingestion quality controls
