Purpose/Objective

The Head - Design and Engineering is responsible for leading the design and engineering, for large-scale redevelopment projects.
This role ensures that designs meet technical, regulatory, and operational requirements while driving innovation, cost-effectiveness, and timely execution.
The incumbent will oversee a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with key stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Head Design and Engineering Technical Leadership & Design Oversight: Provide technical expertise and leadership in Architectural design, MEP and structural designs.
Establish and enforce design standards, guidelines, and best practices.
Conduct feasibility assessments to ensure constructability and cost-effectiveness.
Identify and resolve design-related challenges with creative solutions.
Drive design optimization and value engineering to enhance project efficiency.
Urban Infrastructure Planning: Oversee the planning and integration of urban infrastructure, including roads, utilities, drainage, and waste management.
Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and alignment with city planning requirements.
Implement smart and sustainable infrastructure solutions for long-term efficiency.
Coordinate with government authorities and urban planning agencies for approvals and clearances.
Develop cost-effective, resilient, and scalable infrastructure designs.
Documentation & Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for vendors and consultants.




Define and standardize material specifications for engineering and design teams.
Ensure all engineering documentation aligns with regulatory and company standards.
Facilitate approval processes by ensuring designs adhere to Development Control Regulations (DCR) and other statutory requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align design objectives with marketing strategies, sales requirements, and end-user expectations.
Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to ensure seamless execution.
Act as a key liaison between engineering, design, and project execution teams.
Innovation & Process Optimization: Champion the adoption of advanced design methodologies and digital tools.
Optimize project timelines while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Introduce industry best practices to improve efficiency, sustainability, and operational performance.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the design and engineering teams.
Leadership & Decision-Making: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of design and engineering professionals.
Drive strategic decision-making on budget allocations, design approvals, and execution plans.




Ensure timely delivery of design solutions aligned with project milestones.
Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective measures.
Represent the design and engineering function in executive meetings and stakeholder discussions.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: Masters / Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Work Experience (Range of years): 25+ Years Preferred Industry: Expertise in design and engineering, with a focus on urban infrastructure, large-scale redevelopment, and complex mixed-use projects.
Extensive experience in urban infrastructure planning, real estate development, and construction, preferably in large-scale projects involving slum redevelopment, smart cities, or urban regeneration.
Proven expertise in Architectural Design with MEP, structural engineering, and urban infrastructure.
Strong understanding of municipal regulations, development control rules (DCR), and approval processes with urban authorities such as SRA, MHADA, MMRDA, or equivalent regulatory bodies.
