About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled API Gateway & Integration Engineer with expertise in API management, secure backend integrations, and operational excellence in cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Apigee/API Gateway platforms on AWS, solid knowledge of authentication and authorization frameworks, and the ability to support enterprise-grade API ecosystems.

This role requires collaboration with engineering, security, DevOps, and product teams to build scalable, secure, and highly available API platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and manage API gateway solutions using Apigee and AWS API Gateway.
- Implement API gateway patterns including routing, throttling, rate limiting, caching, transformation, and traffic management.
- Build and maintain secure backend integrations with internal and external systems.
- Configure and manage authentication and authorization mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO, OpenID Connect, API keys, and IAM policies.
- Develop identity and consent management workflows for secure data access and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with backend and cloud teams to integrate APIs with microservices and enterprise applications.
- Monitor API performance, reliability, and security using observability and monitoring tools.
- Handle operational support activities including incident management, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Participate in release planning, deployment activities,



rollback strategies, and change management processes.
- Create operational dashboards, alerts, and automated monitoring mechanisms for proactive issue resolution.
- Ensure API governance, documentation standards, and best practices across the organization.
- Support high availability and disaster recovery strategies for API platforms.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

- Strong experience with Apigee and/or AWS API Gateway
- Expertise in API gateway patterns and API lifecycle management
- Experience with backend integrations using REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
- Strong understanding of:
- OAuth 2.0
- OpenID Connect (OIDC)
- JWT
- SAML
- IAM and RBAC

- Experience with identity, consent, authentication, and authorization frameworks
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, ELK, Grafana, Splunk, or Datadog
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release management processes
- Hands-on experience with incident response and operational troubleshooting
- Exposure to AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures
- Understanding of API security best practices and compliance standards

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 4 to 8 years of overall software engineering/integration experience
- Relevant certifications in AWS or Apigee are a plus

Experience in the US healthcare domain will be an added advantage
