Manager / Deputy Manager / Assistant Manager BTG Package Procurement (Mechanical Utility & Auxiliary Systems)

Location: Corporate Office (Noida) with periodic travel to Project Site
Job Purpose
The incumbent shall be responsible for procurement and package management of mechanical utility systems and auxiliary Balance of Plant packages associated with the 2400 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project. The role focuses on ensuring timely procurement, contract execution, manufacturing monitoring and site availability of all critical utility systems required for successful erection, commissioning and commercial operation of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- The role shall manage the complete procurement lifecycle for utility and auxiliary systems including Compressed Air System, Fuel Oil Handling System (FOHS), LP Piping, Miscellaneous Pumps, Cranes & Hoists, Weigh Bridges, Construction Water System and other miscellaneous mechanical Balance of Plant packages.
- The incumbent shall prepare procurement plans aligned with project schedules, develop sourcing strategies, prepare tender documents, coordinate technical evaluations with Engineering teams, undertake techno-commercial evaluations, negotiate commercial terms with suppliers and facilitate timely placement of purchase orders.
- The role shall actively engage with suppliers throughout the manufacturing cycle by reviewing production schedules, coordinating inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests, expediting manufacturing activities, monitoring dispatch readiness and ensuring timely delivery of equipment to site.
It shall also establish and maintain effective vendor relationships, continuously monitor vendor performance and support vendor development initiatives.
- The incumbent shall work closely with Mechanical Engineering, PMG, Construction Teams, Site Stores, Quality Assurance, Logistics and Finance functions to ensure uninterrupted material availability, resolve procurement issues and support project commissioning activities. The role shall additionally administer contracts covering variation orders, price amendments, contractual claims, liquidated damages, payment milestones, bank guarantees, insurance documentation and overall contractual compliance.
- Regular monitoring of procurement progress through package-wise MIS reports, identification of procurement risks and implementation of corrective actions to meet project schedules shall form an integral part of the role.
Grade-wise Expectations
Manager: Shall independently lead procurement of all assigned utility and auxiliary packages, formulate procurement strategies, conduct commercial negotiations with key suppliers, mentor team members, drive vendor performance improvement initiatives and present procurement status to senior project management.
Deputy Manager: Shall execute procurement activities for assigned packages, coordinate technical evaluations, manufacturing follow-up,
inspection planning, logistics coordination and contract administration while ensuring timely completion of procurement milestones.
Assistant Manager: Shall support RFQ preparation, bid documentation, vendor correspondence, purchase order processing, manufacturing follow-up, inspection scheduling, logistics coordination, SAP updates, MIS reporting, invoice processing and maintenance of procurement documentation.
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, although candidates with Electrical, Production or Industrial Engineering backgrounds possessing relevant procurement experience may also be considered. A postgraduate qualification in Materials Management or Supply Chain Management shall be an added advantage.
Relevant experience of 12-18 years for Managers, 8-12 years for Deputy Managers and 48 years for Assistant Managers is desirable, preferably in procurement and package management for Supercritical Thermal Power Projects, EPC organizations or large process industries.
Candidates should possess robust knowledge of project procurement practices, SAP-MM, contract management, vendor development, commercial negotiations, manufacturing follow-up, inspection procedures, logistics management and project execution. Prior experience with reputed OEMs and EPC contractors engaged in thermal power projects will be considered a significant advantage.
