The Capital Management Analyst supports clients' capital management processes through capital reporting, forecasting support, investment governance administration, project spend monitoring, advantages tracking, and working capital analytics.
The role works closely with Business Unit Finance teams, Group FP&A;, Capital Project Managers, Financial Control teams, Asset Accounting teams, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, governance, monitoring, and control of capital investments across the organisation.
The analyst is responsible for maintaining capital management data, monitoring approved investments, supporting forecasting processes, tracking financial performance, and producing management information that enables informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Working Capital Optimisation Support
Support monitoring and reporting of working capital performance across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Inventory.
Responsibilities
- Prepare working capital performance reports and dashboards.
- Track AP, AR, and Inventory balances against agreed targets.
- Analyse period-on-period movements and identify key drivers.
- Support monthly working capital review processes.
- Investigate material variances and prepare commentary.
- Consolidate business unit working capital submissions.
- Monitor performance of working capital improvement initiatives.
2. Capital Budgeting & Planning Support
Support annual capital planning and budgeting activities.
Responsibilities
- Collect and consolidate capital budget submissions from business units.
- Validate accuracy and completeness of planning inputs.
- Maintain capital budget trackers and planning templates.
- Support budget review and approval processes.
- Assist in preparation of capital planning reports for management review.
- Prepare budget-versus-actual analysis.
- Coordinate submission timelines across stakeholders.
3. Capital Forecasting Support
Support monthly and quarterly capital expenditure forecasting processes.
Responsibilities
- Collect project-level capital forecasts from business units and project teams.
- Consolidate forecasts into enterprise-wide reporting packs.
- Track changes between forecast cycles.
- Reconcile forecasts against approved budgets.
- Maintain forecast models, templates, and trackers.
- Investigate and explain material forecast variances.
- Support forecast review meetings and governance forums.
4. Investment Approval Administration
Provide governance and administrative support for investment approval processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain investment request and approval trackers.
- Review submissions for completeness and required documentation.
- Track approval status through governance forums.
- Coordinate information requests with stakeholders.
- Prepare investment governance reports.
- Maintain business case repositories and supporting documentation.
- Ensure approval records are audit compliant.
5. Investment Execution Monitoring
Monitor approved capital projects throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Track project spend against approved funding.
- Monitor capital expenditure utilisation.
- Maintain project cost and funding trackers.
- Review project-level financial performance.
- Identify budget overruns and funding risks.
- Support month-end reporting for active projects.
- Coordinate updates with project managers and finance teams.
6. Benefits Realisation Tracking
Support monitoring of benefits delivered from approved investments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain benefits realisation trackers.
- Compare actual benefits against approved business cases.
- Prepare variance analysis and supporting commentary.
- Track achievement of investment objectives.
- Consolidate project performance information.
- Support post-implementation reviews.
- Assist in preparing lessons-learned reports for completed projects.
7. Capital Reporting & Management Information
Provide regular reporting and analytics support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly capital management reports.
- Develop reporting packs for Finance leadership.
- Produce project and investment performance dashboards.
- Generate budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure analytics.
- Prepare executive summaries and presentations.
- Perform data quality checks across reporting outputs.
- Support ad hoc reporting requests.
8. Governance, Compliance & Controls
Support adherence to clients' capital governance framework.
Responsibilities
- Ensure investment approval documentation is complete and retained.
- Maintain audit-ready records and supporting evidence.
- Perform control checks across capital management activities.
- Track governance actions and closure status.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Escalate exceptions and policy non-compliance.
- Support implementation of process improvements and controls.
