Government eMarketplace (GeM) is a unified digital platform that facilitates end-to-end procurement of goods and services

by various government departments, organizations, and public sector undertakings (PSUs). Our Honourable Prime Ministers concerted efforts to harness the power of digital platforms to achieve Minimum Government, Maximum Governance led to the genesis of GeM in 2016.

GeM provides a paperless, cashless and contactless ecosystem for government buyers to directly purchase products and services from pan-India sellers and service providers through an online platform. GeM covers the entire gamut of procurement process, right from vendor registration and item selection by buyers to receipt of goods and facilitation of timely payments. GeM has envisioned to utilise the agility and speed that come along with a digital platform created with a strategic intent to reinvigorate public procurement systems and bring about a lasting change for the underserved as well as the nation.

GeM invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the following position(s) on Contractual Basis:

This is a contractual engagement under the Project Management Unit (PMU) for an initial period of 5 years, extendable based on performance and organizational requirements.

Job Specification

Role Overview

The position has been created to support category monitoring, specification rationalisation, and price benchmarking activities across the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). The selected resource will undertake data-driven analysis of product specifications, category parameters, pricing trends, and comparable market offerings to identify discrepancies, outliers, and potential compliance concerns. The role will contribute towards strengthening marketplace transparency, improving category governance, and supporting evidence-based corrective and policy interventions.

The role demands basic computer proficiency, familiarity with web portals and Excel, and the ability to utilize AI tools for efficient data collection and analysis. Initially,



three third-party resources will be engaged on an immediate basis to support this initiative.

The job holder may be used in other assignments of GeM as well, whenever required, on the directions of competent authority

Role And Responsibility

- Conduct regular specifications/price comparisons between GeM-listed items and other e- commerce portals to identify pricing anomalies or irregularities.
- Collate, maintain, and update comparative data in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Use AI and automation tools to streamline data extraction and analysis processes.
- Prepare summary reports highlighting inconsistencies or potential anomalies.
- Coordinate with internal teams for verification and corrective action.
- Assist in preparing MIS reports, dashboards, and presentations for management review.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all vendor and product data reviewed.
- Any other responsibility as may be assigned from time to time

JOB QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- At least 3+ years of experience in in market research, data analysis, product benchmarking, category management, pricing analysis, or marketplace monitoring.
- Ability to conduct comparative analysis of product specifications, category attributes, market offerings, and pricing trends across multiple platforms and data sources.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy.
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot).

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel functions, formulas, and basic data visualization.
- Valuable written and verbal communication skill.
- Ability to work independently and meet short deadlines

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

- B. Tech/ B.E./BCA/B.Sc from a reputed institute/ University
