Accountant - UK Practice (Year-End Accounts)

Location / Experience / Salary

Location: Delhi / Remote (WFH)
Experience: 2-6 years (UK Practice)
Minimum qualification: 6 CA/ACCA papers passed or formally exempted
Salary: Competitive, performance-linked

Independent ownership | Review-ready delivery | UK client exposure

This role is designed for accountants who want real ownership of complete UK year-end accounts jobs, rather than a task-by-task support position. You will manage work from initial records through to a high-quality, review-ready file, with direct exposure to UK clients and clear accountability for deadlines and standards.

Why Join Us?

You will join a supportive, growth-focused environment where strong performance is recognised, technical capability is developed, and people who improve the way work is delivered can progress into Senior Accountant and Team Lead positions. Join TC Professional Services, the international professional services arm of TC Group, a top 18 UK firm, where our India team supports UK offices across accounting, compliance and advisory services.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on UK Accountant who can independently prepare and finalise statutory accounts for a portfolio of UK clients. The right candidate will use sound judgement, resolve routine issues without waiting for step-by-step direction, and submit complete jobs that require minimal review.

You should be comfortable taking responsibility for accuracy, completeness, client queries, and deadlines. Senior support will be available for genuinely complex or technical matters, but you will be expected to own the job and move it forward.

Key Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end delivery: Prepare and finalise UK year-end accounts from initial records through to a complete, review-ready file.
- Prepare statutory accounts: Produce Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and statutory reports.
- Apply UK reporting standards:

Handle FRS 105 and FRS 102 Section 1A accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Complete tax work: Prepare UK Corporation Tax computations and CT600 returns accurately and on time.
- Resolve accounting issues: Analyse general ledgers, investigate discrepancies, post journals, and complete all required year-end adjustments.
- Self-review before submission: Check the file for accuracy, completeness, consistency, compliance, and clear supporting evidence before it reaches a senior reviewer.
- Manage client queries: Communicate directly and professionally with UK clients to obtain information, explain requirements, and close outstanding points.
- Manage priorities: Plan and progress multiple jobs independently while meeting agreed quality standards and deadlines.
- Use core systems confidently: Work effectively with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, CCH, and Excel.
- Improve how work is delivered: Identify recurring issues and suggest practical improvements to checklists, templates, workflows, and team processes.

What Success Looks Like

- Accounts jobs are completed accurately, on time, and to a standard that requires minimal review and limited rework.
- Routine queries and reconciliation issues are resolved independently, with sensible escalation only where needed.
- Clients receive clear, timely communication and outstanding information is actively followed up.
- You consistently look for ways to improve quality, efficiency, controls, and the client experience.

Minimum Requirements

- Professional studies:

Minimum six papers passed at CA/ACCA level, or formal exemptions awarded. This is a minimum eligibility requirement.
- UK practice experience: At least two years of hands-on experience preparing UK year-end accounts within an accounting practice.
- Independent delivery: A proven ability to complete accounts jobs with minimal supervision - not only prepare initial drafts or supporting schedules.
- Technical knowledge: Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, statutory reporting, reconciliations, journals, and year-end adjustments.
- Corporation tax: Practical experience preparing UK Corporation Tax computations and CT600 returns.
- Systems capability: Strong Excel skills and practical experience with UK accounting software.
- Communication: Clear, professional written and spoken communication, including confidence dealing directly with UK clients.
- Personal ownership: Organised, dependable, deadline-focused, and willing to take responsibility for the quality of your own work.

The Mindset We Value

- You take initiative and keep jobs moving rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
- You treat review points as learning opportunities and work to avoid repeating the same issues.
- You question inefficient processes constructively and propose practical solutions.
- You are committed to continuous improvement in your technical knowledge, productivity, and professional judgement.

What You'll Gain

- Direct exposure to UK clients and meaningful ownership of a varied accounts portfolio.
- The autonomy to demonstrate your capability and build stronger technical judgement.
- Transparent progression opportunities to Senior Accountant and Team Lead roles based on performance and readiness.
- Flexible working from our Delhi office or remotely from home.
- Continuous learning through focused review feedback, technical guidance, and progressively more complex work.
