Position Overview

Wings Biotech LLP is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Head / General Manager Purchase / AGM Purchase / Senior Manager Purchase to lead and manage the company's end-to-end procurement and purchase function. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the Generic Pharmaceutical Industry, with a proven track record in strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost optimization, negotiations, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage the complete Purchase & Procurement function, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement as per business and production requirements.

2. Handle procurement and sourcing of APIs, Excipients, Raw Materials (RM), Packing Materials (PM), Consumables, Machinery, Lab Chemicals, Lab Instruments, Engineering Items, Spares, and other Pharma-related materials.

3. Develop and maintain a strong network of reliable and approved vendors, manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers.

4. Identify new vendors, evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate commercial terms, and ensure competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.

5. Lead price negotiations, rate contracts, annual procurement agreements, payment terms, credit periods, and cost-saving initiatives with suppliers.

6. Ensure procurement is aligned with quality standards, approved vendor lists, specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies.

Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), R&D;, Regulatory, Warehouse, Engineering, Finance, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted availability of materials.

8. Monitor purchase planning, inventory levels, lead times, material availability, and critical stock requirements to avoid production interruptions.

9. Manage the complete Purchase Order (PO) process, including quotations, comparative statements, approvals, order placement, delivery tracking, and supplier follow-up.

10.Develop procurement strategies to achieve cost optimization, reduction in purchase expenses, improved supplier performance, and efficient working capital management.

11.Monitor vendor performance in terms of quality, price, delivery, service, and responsiveness, and take corrective action wherever required.

12.Lead, guide, and develop the Purchase & Procurement team, ensuring effective delegation, performance management, accountability, and professional development.

13.Establish and maintain effective procurement processes, SOPs, systems, MIS, and reporting mechanisms for better control and transparency.

14.Coordinate with Finance and Accounts for vendor payments, outstanding issues, credit terms,



and reconciliation-related matters.

15.Ensure proper documentation and compliance of procurement activities as per company policies and applicable pharmaceutical industry requirements.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong experience in Pharmaceutical Purchase / Procurement, preferably in Generic Pharma.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial skills with the ability to achieve cost-effective deals.
- Strong knowledge of API, Excipients, RM, PM, Consumables, Machinery, Lab Chemicals, Lab Instruments, Engineering Items, and Spares procurement.
- Robust vendor development and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a Purchase/Procurement team.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Good understanding of market trends, pricing, supplier capabilities, and procurement best practices.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel, MIS, and ERP/Purchase Management Systems.

Candidate Profile

- Experience: 14+ years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably from a Generic Pharmaceutical Company.
- Education: B.Pharma / M.Com / M.Sc. / Any Graduate. MBA in Supply Chain / Procurement / Operations will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing procurement and strategic sourcing will be preferred.
- Should have strong team management, negotiation, vendor development, and cost optimization capabilities.
