Key Responsibilities

1. Direct Taxation

- Responsible for all direct tax compliances including TDS, FATCA/CRS, SFT reporting
- Review tax positions and advise management on tax-productive structures and transactions.
- Handle Income Tax assessments, scrutiny proceedings, notices and appeals.
- Manage tax audits and coordinate with statutory auditors and tax consultants.
- Monitor developments in tax laws and assess their impact on the insurance business.

2. Indirect Taxation (GST)

- Ensuring indirect tax compliances PAN India basis
- Liaise with tax authorities and consultants on Service tax/GST-related matters.
- Advise business teams on indirect tax implications of new products, distribution models and digital initiatives.

3. Insurance Tax Advisory

Provide tax advisory support on:

- Life insurance products and policyholder taxation and cross functional support
- Evaluate tax implications of regulatory changes issued by IRDAI, CBDT and GST authorities.

4. Litigation & Assessments

- Manage tax notices, assessments, appeals and litigation matters related to Service tax/GST before various authorities and consultant management




- Track contingent liabilities and maintain litigation MIS.
- Ensure closure of tax disputes and recovery of eligible refunds.

5. Audit Support & Governance

- Responsible for audit/inspection related support to tax matters.
- Provide tax-related information for Board, Audit Committee and management reviews.

6. Risk Management & Governance

- Establish robust tax governance frameworks and internal controls.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks across business processes.

7. Team Management

- Lead and mentor the taxation team, ensuring capability development and succession planning.

Educational Qualification

Chartered Accountant (Mandatory)

LLB / Diploma in Taxation (Preferred)

Experience

10 years of post-qualification experience.

Minimum 5 years in Financial Services, Insurance, Banking or BFSI sector.

Strong exposure to both Direct and Indirect Taxation.

Experience in handling assessments, audits, litigation and regulatory interactions.

Prior team management experience preferred.
