Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Head of Payroll & Compliance to lead our client delivery team and oversee end-to-end multi-country payroll operations and regulatory compliance for our global client portfolio. In this role, you will manage a team of 10+ payroll professionals, serve as the senior point of escalation for international enterprise clients, and drive operational efficiency while maintaining zero-tolerance compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & SLA Management
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple international client accounts, ensuring 100% accuracy and strict SLA adherence.
- Standardize standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control checklists, and operational workflows across all client deliverables.
- Act as the final quality gatekeeper for payroll outputs, gross-to-net calculations, tax withholdings, and statutory disbursements.
2. International Client Engagement & Escalations
- Act as the primary strategic partner and senior point of contact for international HR, finance, and leadership teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC regions.
- Conduct regular Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews (MBRs/QBRs) with key client stakeholders to review performance metrics and key risk indicators.
- Efficiently manage and resolve complex client escalations, service delivery gaps, and operational queries.
3. Statutory Compliance & Audit Governance
- Ensure strict adherence to regional tax laws, labor codes, social security regulations, and statutory filing deadlines across operating jurisdictions.
- Lead statutory, external, internal,
and client-driven audits (e.g., SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR compliance).
- Monitor global regulatory changes and proactively update payroll logic, client policies, and internal workflows to stay ahead of statutory shifts.
4. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Directly manage, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of 10+ payroll managers, team leads, and specialists.
- Manage workload distribution, capacity planning, resource allocation, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team.
- Drive continuous learning programs to upskill the team on international payroll tools, regional compliance nuances, and client communication.
5. Process Automation & Client Onboarding
- Partner with the implementation team during recent client transitions to set up custom payroll configurations and data migrations.
- Identify process bottlenecks and drive automation across manual data entry, validation, and reporting tasks.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in payroll management and statutory compliance, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role within a Payroll Outsourcing / BPO / Managed Services firm.
- Team Management: Proven track record of directly leading and mentoring teams of 10 or more payroll professionals.
- International Payroll Expertise: Hands-on experience handling multi-country payrolls (MCP) across regions such as US, UK, Europe, or APAC.
- System Proficiency: Strong command of enterprise payroll platforms and ERP systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or proprietary global payroll tools).
- Work Mode: Must be willing to work full-time Work From Office (WFO) from our Delhi location.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with demonstrated confidence in presenting to C-suite international client stakeholders.
