Role & responsibilities
To establish, maintain, and continuously improve a robust Internal Financial Control (IFC) framework that ensures the reliability of financial reporting, safeguarding of company assets, compliance with statutory regulations, and the operational efficiency of financial processes.
Preferred candidate profile
1. Framework Design & Implementation
Control Mapping: Review, design, and implement the companys IFC framework based on recognized standards.
Process Documentation: Create and maintain up-to-date Risk and Control Matrices (RCMs) and detailed process flowcharts for all financially significant cycles (e.g., Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Record-to-Report etc.).
Policy Development: Formulate, standardize, and distribute internal financial policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) across business units.
2. Testing, Evaluation & Monitoring
Control Testing: Execute regular walkthroughs and testing of both manual and automated financial controls to ensure they are operating effectively.
Segregation of Duties: Monitor ERP system access rights to ensure proper segregation of duties and prevent unauthorized financial transactions.
Deficiency Identification: Identify control gaps,
design deficiencies, or operating weaknesses in existing financial processes.
3. Risk Mitigation & Remediation
Risk Assessment: Conduct periodic financial risk assessments to identify emerging threats, fraud risks, and process vulnerabilities.
Remediation Planning: Partner with process owners (e.g., HR, Procurement, IT) to develop and implement corrective action plans for any identified control gaps.
Root Cause Analysis: Analyze the root cause of any financial control failures or operational leakages to prevent recurrence.
4. Reporting, Liaison & Compliance
Management Reporting: Prepare regular, transparent dashboards and reports for the CFO, senior management, and the Audit Committee regarding the health of the IFC environment.
External Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during year-end IFC / ICOFR audits, streamlining the evidence-gathering process.
Continuous Training: Conduct workshops and training sessions for staff to foster a robust culture of governance, risk awareness, and compliance across the organization.
