1. Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager shall be responsible for the overall planning, management, supervision and control of all line and base maintenance activities undertaken by Saarthi Airways under its CAR-145 approval. The position shall ensure that maintenance is performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with DGCA requirements, the approved Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), approved maintenance data and company procedures.
2. Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure all line and base maintenance activities comply with DGCA CAR-145, the approved MOE and applicable maintenance data.
2. Plan and supervise scheduled maintenance, inspections, defect rectification, repairs and component replacements.
3. Ensure sufficient qualified manpower, certifying staff, tools, equipment, facilities and approved maintenance data are available before work begins.
4. Maintain effective manpower and production planning, including control of shifts, leave, training and workload.
5. Ensure certifying and support staff hold the required licences, type ratings, competency assessments and organisational authorisations.
6. Ensure all maintenance records, work packages, technical logs and release-to-service documents are complete and accurate.
7. Control aircraft components, materials, stores, calibrated tools and ground-support equipment.
8. Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations, Continuing Airworthiness, Safety, Compliance, Stores and Technical Records teams.
9. Support DGCA inspections and internal audits, and ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions.
10. Promote maintenance safety, human-factors awareness, occurrence reporting and prevention of maintenance errors.
11. Ensure only authorised maintenance within Saarthis approved A2 scope is undertaken.
12. Report to the Accountable Manager on maintenance performance, risks, manpower and regulatory compliance.

3. Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with CAR-145, CAR-66, applicable continuing-airworthiness requirements and the approved MOE.
- Maintain control of the organisations approval scope, limitations and privileges.
- Act as the principal maintenance representative during DGCA inspections, surveillance and regulatory meetings.
- Ensure timely closure of regulatory and internal audit findings.
- Process changes affecting facilities, personnel, procedures or scope in accordance with DGCA requirements.

4. Line Maintenance

- Ensure transit checks, scheduled line checks and defect rectification are carried out to the required standard.
- Ensure adequate technical support is available at the main base and approved line stations.
- Control defects, repetitive defects and deferred defects in accordance with approved procedures and the MEL.
- Ensure proper completion of technical logs, work cards and Certificates of Release to Service.

Base Maintenance

- Ensure base maintenance is carried out only at approved and suitable facilities.
- Plan and supervise scheduled checks, inspections, repairs, modifications and component replacements.
- Ensure work packages clearly identify tasks, manpower, tools, materials, maintenance data and inspection requirements.
- Ensure critical tasks, independent inspections and error-capturing methods are correctly applied.
- Ensure all work is completed, inspected and certified before release to service.

6. Manpower Planning and Personnel Control

- Maintain an effective man-hour plan for line and base maintenance.
- Ensure sufficient qualified personnel are available to plan, perform, supervise, inspect and certify maintenance.
- Plan for leave, sickness, training, shift coverage and temporary reductions in staff availability.
- Assign personnel only to tasks for which they are trained, competent and authorised.
- Control and supervise contracted and temporary maintenance personnel.

7. Certifying Staff and Authorisations

- Verify licences, type ratings, experience and competency of certifying and support staff.
- Ensure documented competency assessments are completed before organisational authorisations are issued.
- Control the scope and limitations of each authorisation.
- Ensure continuation, recurrent, human-factors and SMS training are completed.
- Ensure only appropriately authorised personnel issue Certificates of Release to Service.

8. Tools, Equipment and Facilities

- Ensure suitable hangar, workshop, office, storage and line-maintenance facilities are available.
- Ensure all required general and special tools are available before maintenance begins.
- Control calibration, identification, serviceability and traceability of tools and test equipment.
- Maintain effective tool-control and foreign-object-damage prevention procedures.
- Ensure ground-support equipment is serviceable and suitable for the aircraft type.

9. Maintenance Data and Technical Documentation

- Ensure current approved aircraft, engine, propeller and component maintenance data is available.
- Control Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, repair data, wiring manuals and technical instructions.
- Ensure obsolete or superseded data is promptly withdrawn from use.
- Ensure work cards and task instructions accurately reflect approved maintenance data.

10. Maintenance Planning and Production Control

- Forecast scheduled maintenance and arrange manpower, facilities, tools, spares and materials.
- Approve maintenance work scopes and work packages.
- Coordinate aircraft downtime with Operations and Continuing Airworthiness personnel.
- Ensure effective shift and task handovers.




- Monitor maintenance progress and prevent operational pressure from compromising safety or quality.

11. Components, Materials and Stores

- Ensure only eligible, traceable and serviceable components and materials are installed.
- Ensure segregation of serviceable, unserviceable, quarantined and scrap items.
- Control shelf-life items, standard parts, raw materials, lubricants and consumables.
- Ensure removed components are correctly identified, recorded and routed.
- Report and control suspected unapproved parts.

12. Safety, Compliance and Records

- Promote a positive maintenance-safety culture and support hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Ensure maintenance errors, hazards and reportable occurrences are promptly reported and investigated.
- Provide the Compliance Monitoring Manager unrestricted access to maintenance activities, records and personnel.
- Implement root-cause analysis, corrective action and preventive action for findings and occurrences.
- Ensure maintenance records are complete, secure, retrievable and retained for the prescribed period.

13. Experience Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in an appropriate position within the aeronautical industry.
- Experience in aircraft line and/or base maintenance.
- Experience in maintenance planning, supervision and regulatory compliance.
- Experience coordinating with regulatory authorities and managing audit findings.

14. Licence Requirements

- A DGCA CAR-66 Category B1/ B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence with the appropriate aircraft type rating is preferred.
- Where certification privileges are exercised, the applicable CAR-66 licence, type rating and organisational authorisation are mandatory.
- Appointment is subject to DGCA acceptance through CA Form 4.

15. Aircraft Type Experience

- DHC-6 Twin Otter maintenance experience is preferred.
- PT6A engine maintenance experience is desirable.
- Experience supporting line and base maintenance of twin-engine turboprop aircraft is preferred.

16. Knowledge and Competencies

- Working knowledge of DGCA CAR-145, CAR-66 and applicable continuing-airworthiness requirements.
- Knowledge of maintenance planning, production control, SMS and human factors.
- Knowledge of maintenance documentation, tooling, stores and technical records.
- Ability to interpret approved maintenance manuals and technical data.

17. Regulatory Acceptance

- Be nominated by the Accountable Manager.
- Be accepted by DGCA as a nominated post holder through CA Form 4.
- Demonstrate suitable qualifications, experience and working knowledge of CAR-145.
