As a Mainframe Host Network Support (HNS) SME at Kyndryl, you ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end support for Mainframe Host Network Systems (HNS), including incident resolution, problem management, and performance optimization
- Act as a Network Communications SME, supporting enterprise-grade mainframe customer environments
- Administer and maintain z/OS Communication Server components (VTAM TCP/IP stack)
- Perform advanced problem determination using traces, dumps, and logs
- Manage and support PAGENT configurations and policy-based networking
- Provide expertise in TCP/IP configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting
- Analyze and resolve network connectivity, performance, and latency issues across host systems
- Support VTAM definitions, resources, and session management
- Perform network trace analysis (IP traces, packet traces, VTAM traces) to diagnose complex network issues
- Participate in project implementations, migrations, and transformation initiatives involving host networking
- Ensure system stability, security, and compliance for communication subsystems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (z/OS SysProg, storage, distributed teams, network engineering)
- Support customer escalations and provide timely resolution within SLA commitments

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 10+ years of Experience in Mainframe Networking / HNS support
- Proven experience as a Subject Matter Expert in HNS / VTAM / TCP-IP on z/O and z/OS Communication Server
- Expertise in PAGENT (Policy Agent) and solid understanding of network protocols, routing concepts, and SNA/IP networking in mainframe environments
- Proven experience in advanced troubleshooting, including packet trace analysis, performance tuning, debugging, and resolution of complex production incidents
- Solid knowledge of Host Networking Services (HNS) system programming concepts
- Strong understanding of high availability architectures, failover mechanisms, and resilience configurations
- Ability to manage and support mission-critical enterprise production environments
- Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and technical problem resolution
- Experience working in customer-facing roles and managed services/global delivery environments
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Experience with advanced networking technologies such as Enterprise Extender (EE), HiperSockets, and OSA adapters
- Knowledge of security protocols including AT-TLS and IPSec
- Exposure to automation tools and scripting (e.g., REXX, Ansible, or similar)
- Experience with monitoring tools and AIOps platforms
- Prior experience working in large-scale global delivery environments
