Senior DB2 Database Administrator responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining DB2 for z/OS databases in highvolume production environments. The role spans installation, upgrades/patches, performance and capacity management, security, and endtoend release/change activities across TEST to PROD. You will manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery, schedule and monitor DB2 utilities and batch cycles, and support application teams with SQL diagnostics and tuning. The position requires strong mainframe tooling (JCL, DFSMS, IDCAMS, etc.), oncall participation, and comfort working an evening shift (17:3002:20 IST) with occasional offhours support.

Required Qualifications

- 10+ years of handson DB2 for z/OS database administration
- Robust command of DB2 utilities: LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, QUIESCE, REBIND
- Expertise in backup, recovery, pointintime recovery, and disaster recovery for DB2
- Performance tuning of DB2 subsystems, SQL, buffer pools, access paths, and rebinds
- JCL proficiency; experience scheduling and monitoring daily/weekly/monthly batch cycles
- Security and privileges management (authorization, roles, grants) and compliance
- Space management, partition rebalancing, tablespace migration, and capacity planning
- Release/change management and DDL migration across TEST/QA/PROD
- Experience with IBM Admin Tool Suite, Query Monitor (or equivalents)
- Experience with IBM DB2 utilities and BMC DB2 tools
- Mainframe/storage tooling: DFSMS Suite, IDCAMS, CA1, ICF Catalog, ISMF,



TDMF, OAM, FDR/ABR
- VSAM, MF Storage concepts; FlashCopy, Global Mirror, Copy Services Manager
- Scripting/automation with REXX/CLIST/SAS (nice to have)
- Ability to provide 24x7 rotational production support and participate in oncall

Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, upgrade, and patch DB2 for z/OS subsystems and tools
- Create and manage DB2 objects and privileges; implement DB2 objects across TESTPROD
- Plan, schedule, and execute DB2 utilities (COPY, REORG, RUNSTATS, QUIESCE, LOAD/UNLOAD)
- Monitor and manage performance, capacity, buffer pools, and access paths; perform rebinds
- Run and monitor health checks (Image Copy, RUNSTATS, DDL/DML reports) and batch cycles
- Manage space, partitions, and perform partition rebalancing and tablespace migrations
- Design and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for primary/secondary sites
- Perform data refreshes from production to test; copy/recover test and production databases
- Handle endtoend release/change activities; migrate DDL across environments to production
- Implement and schedule production DB2 jobs via JCL and enterprise schedulers
- Provide application DBA support: SQL diagnostics, DDL implementation, and maintenance tasks
- Ensure security compliance; add/modify user permissions; enforce standards and housekeeping
- Troubleshoot issues independently; research and deliver solutions; participate in oncall/afterhours support
