Purpose of the Role

Provide specialist ownership of Payments Switch Specifications across Terminal, Gateway, and Scheme integrations (Visa, Mastercard, eftpos), and deliver fieldlevel data mapping that translates Connex legacy behaviours into NTS target architecture, ensuring customer experience, scheme/regulatory compliance, and protected migration.

Key Accountabilities

- Support and evolve Terminal & Gateway specifications; interpret scheme mandates and publish design guidance for engineering squads.
- Deliver endtoend data mappings (Connex AS2805/custom NTS ISO8583 variants), routing rules, exception/standin handling, reconciliation/settlement touchpoints.
- Lead scheme readiness (impact analysis design test criteria) for upcoming mandates; coordinate with vendors where required (RFS/SOW).
- Embed traceability from requirement spec mapping test; contribute to incident reviews and production change controls.
- Produce durable artefacts/runbooks and conduct knowledge transfer to retain IP within NAB squads.

Required Skills & Experience

- Deep payments switch expertise (Connex or equivalent),



including AS2805/ISO8583 /ISO20022 message design, routing, STIP behaviours, and scheme certification nuances.
- Proven delivery of Terminal/Gateway specifications and scheme integrations (Visa, Mastercard, eftpos) for a bank/acquirer.
- Handson legacytocloud data mapping for highthroughput switches; experience with parallel runs / crosslink patterns.
- Strong stakeholder engagement across Product, Ops, Fraud, Security, Testing, Architecture; clear technical writing and impact assessments.
- Familiarity with secure environments (HSM concepts, key management considerations) and production support practices.
