About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager - HR & Administration to manage end-to-end Human Resource operations and plant administration for its manufacturing facility at Mahindra World City, Chennai. The ideal candidate should possess strong exposure to manufacturing HR practices, industrial relations, statutory compliance, payroll, employee engagement, and legal compliance.
Candidates will be considered only from Automotive, Auto Components, Manufacturing, Tyre, Rubber, or Polymer industries.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Manage end-to-end HR operations for the plant.
- Handle manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, and induction.
- Drive performance management processes and annual appraisal cycles.
- Develop employee engagement initiatives to improve retention and productivity.
- Implement HR policies and ensure organizational compliance.
- Support succession planning and talent management initiatives.
Industrial Relations (IR)
- Maintain healthy industrial relations with workmen and union representatives.
- Handle disciplinary matters, domestic enquiries, grievance handling, and employee counseling.
- Support wage settlements and long-term settlements.
- Ensure harmonious employee relations across the plant.
Payroll & Compensation
- Verify and manage monthly payroll processing.
- Ensure statutory deductions are accurately processed.
- Coordinate with finance for salary disbursement.
- Manage attendance, leave records, overtime,
and shift-related payroll activities.
Statutory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws including:
- Factories Act
- Industrial Disputes Act
- Standing Orders
- Shops & Establishments Act
- EPF
- ESI
- Bonus Act
- Gratuity Act
- Minimum Wages Act
- Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act
- POSH Act
- Labour Welfare Fund
- Apprentices Act
Coordinate inspections and maintain statutory records, registers, and documentation.
Learning & Development
- Identify training needs across functions.
- Prepare annual training calendars.
- Coordinate technical and behavioural training programs.
- Evaluate training effectiveness.
- Drive skill development initiatives for operators and staff.
Administration
- Oversee plant administration activities.
- Manage housekeeping, security, transportation, canteen, and facility management.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers.
- Monitor administrative budgets and contracts.
Legal & Compliance
- Liaise with external legal consultants and government authorities.
- Handle labour law matters and legal documentation.
- Support audits including ISO, IATF, customer audits, and statutory audits.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
HR Analytics & MIS
- Prepare HR dashboards and monthly MIS reports.
- Track manpower, absenteeism, attrition, overtime, productivity, and training metrics.
- Present HR reports to management.
Required Experience
- 18 to-24 years of experience in Human Resources within manufacturing environments.
- Mandatory experience in one of the following industries:
- Automotive
- Auto Components
- Manufacturing
- Tyre
- Rubber
- Polymer
Educational Qualification
- MBA / MSW / PGDM in Human Resources (Full-time)
- Degree in Labour Management or Personnel Management is an added advantage.

- Exhibit leadership, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
