Required Qualifications

- 10+ years of hands-on Mainframe Storage Administration experience
- Strong knowledge of z/OS fundamentals, storage architecture, and devices
- Experience with DASD and tape configuration, management, and data migration (DASDDASD, tapetape)
- Proficiency with DFSMS suite: DFSMSdfp, DFSMShsm (HSM), DFSMSdss, DFSMSrmm
- ICF Catalog administration; VSAM and IDCAMS utilities
- TSO/ISPF, JCL, JES2, SDSF; dataset types PS/PDS/PDSE/GDG; ISMF
- Automation/scripting with REXX; reporting/analytics with SAS
- Experience with storage monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON XE (or equivalents)
- Familiarity with CA storage products: CA Disk, CA Allocate, CA-1 (or equivalents like DFSMSrmm/TLMS)
- Experience with FDR products for backup/restore and migrations
- Use of ICKDSF for device/VTOC initialization and maintenance
- Ability to analyze and remediate space abends (SB37/SE37/SD37)
- Experience producing and interpreting SMF, Dcollect, and BVIR reports
- Operational support of multi-LPAR, CECs, DASD, and VTS controllers
- Willingness to work 17:3002:20 IST shift with weekend/holiday on-call as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities





- Administer and optimize mainframe DASD and tape environments on z/OS, ensuring availability, performance, and security compliance.
- Manage daily storage operations: allocations, migrations, recalls, backups, and recoveries using DFSMS/HSM/DSS and vendor tools.
- Oversee ticket queues, prioritize assignments, and collaborate directly with technicians and cross-functional teams to resolve incidents/problems.
- Execute storage box data migrations and replication; plan and validate cutovers while maintaining catalog/dataset integrity.
- Monitor storage health and capacity (e.g., OMEGAMON), address space abends, and produce SMF/Dcollect/BVIR-based reports.
- Administer ICF catalogs, VSAM datasets, and JES2/SDSF spool; use ISMF to define and maintain data/storage/management classes.
- Automate routine tasks using REXX and generate operational/management reporting via SAS.
- Recommend modernization options, identify optimization opportunities, and maintain solid stakeholder relationships.
- Provide production support for multiple LPARs, CECs, DASD, and VTS controllers, including on-call coverage during customer hours.
