Lead Secondary Design Engineer (Substations)

Job Responsibilities

- Lead the Secondary Design Engineering activities for EHV/HV Substation and Power Distribution projects, with expertise in Protection, Control, SCADA, and Automation Systems.
- Manage complete secondary engineering deliverables from concept design through project completion, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements.
- Plan, monitor, and optimize engineering schedules, resource allocation, and man-hours to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Coordinate closely with Primary Design, Civil, Procurement, Project Management, and Site Execution teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review, verify, and approve engineering documents including:
- Protection philosophies
- Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
- Control & Relay Panels
- Wiring and Interconnection Diagrams
- AC/DC Schematics
- Cable Schedules
- Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
- Vendor drawings and technical documents

- Design and review protection schemes, control circuits, SCADA architecture, RTU interfaces, relay configuration, CT/PT selection, battery sizing,



charger sizing, and auxiliary power systems.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant IEC, IEEE, IS, CEA, and utility standards, along with client-specific requirements.
- Participate in technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, technical discussions, FAT inspections, and engineering coordination meetings.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Secondary Design Engineers and Draughts persons, ensuring quality, productivity, and adherence to project timelines.
- Resolve engineering queries raised by clients, consultants, vendors, and site teams during engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Support commissioning teams by providing design clarifications and reviewing site modifications whenever required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, standardization of engineering practices, and implementation of lessons learned across projects.
- Prepare engineering progress reports, risk assessments, and technical presentations using MS Office tools.
