Senior AWS Terraform Engineer Job Description

Role Overview
The Senior AWS Terraform Engineer is responsible for designing, automating, and managing cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code – IaC). This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure platforms while enforcing DevOps best practices and governance standards.

Location : Chennai / Hyderabad / Kolkata / Bangalore

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

- Design and implement reusable, modular Terraform code for AWS infrastructure
- Develop and maintain Terraform modules, state management, and code repositories
- Enforce IaC best practices (version control, code reviews, pipelines)

AWS Cloud Architecture & Deployment

- Architect and deploy AWS resources:

EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, CloudFront

- Build highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable infrastructure solutions
- Design multi-region and multi-account architectures

Automation & DevOps Integration

- Integrate Terraform with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps)
- Implement automated provisioning, configuration, and deployment workflows




- Enable GitOps and DevSecOps practices

State Management & Governance

- Manage Terraform state using remote backends (S3, DynamoDB locking)
- Implement setting segregation (Dev/Test/Prod)
- Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and audit standards

Security & Compliance

- Implement secure cloud design:
- IAM roles and policies
- Encryption (KMS, TLS)
- Network isolation (VPC, security groups, NACLs)

- Ensure compliance with standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC2, ISO 27001)
- Integrate security scanning tools into IaC pipelines

Monitoring & Optimization

- Enable monitoring using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana
- Optimize resource utilization and infrastructure costs
- Implement auto-scaling and performance tuning

Troubleshooting & Support

- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues
- Perform root cause analysis for production incidents
- Maintain DR (Disaster Recovery) and backup strategies

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5–12+ years of experience in Cloud/DevOps engineering
- Strong hands-on experience in Terraform and AWS
- Experience managing large-scale, enterprise infrastructures
