Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Android VPN Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure, high-performance VPN solutions for Android devices. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Android networking, VPN protocols, native development, and mobile security, with hands-on experience building and shipping production-grade VPN applications.

You will work closely with backend, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver reliable, privacy-focused VPN services with excellent performance, minimal battery consumption, and a seamless user experience.

Required technical skills

- Be an expert in Android development using Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, and modern Android architecture.
- Develop and maintain VPN applications using Android VpnService, including VPN tunnel creation, routing, DNS handling, per-app VPN, and always-on VPN functionality.
- Possess robust knowledge of TUN interface concepts, including packet capture, forwarding, MTU, and TCP/UDP tunneling fundamentals.
- Have a solid understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/UDP, TLS, DNS, HTTP(S), proxies, NAT, and latency/packet loss optimization.
- Work with NDK/JNI (C/C++) to integrate VPN cores and native libraries.
- Build and release applications with R8/Proguard, crash monitoring, ANR analysis, and Play Console workflows.
- Develop and maintain native libraries across multiple Android ABIs including arm64-v8a and armeabi-v7a.
- Experience with Gradle and CMake for native build systems.
- Implement and maintain VPN protocols including: WireGuard, OpenVPN,



IKEv2/IPsec (strongSwan), Shadowsocks or other custom tunneling protocols (preferred)
- Ensure application security using Android Keystore, encryption, secure storage, certificate management, and certificate pinning where applicable.
- Follow privacy-first design principles, threat modeling, and least-privilege security practices.
- Contribute to VPN SDK architecture and application integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure networking solutions.
- Follow coding standards, maintain code quality, and participate in code reviews.
- Work within Agile development methodologies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.
- Possess excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience developing consumer or enterprise VPN products.
- Experience building VPN SDK + application shell architecture.
- Familiarity with one backend technology stack such as Go, Java, Node.js, or Python along with PostgreSQL (or equivalent).
- Experience with secure API design, secrets management (KMS/Vault), and rate limiting.
- Working knowledge of Linux networking including iptables, nftables, routing, and sysctl tuning.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design secure and scalable networking solutions.
