Job Summary for Logistics Executive
Position: Inventory Control
Department: Logistics
Key Roles & Responsibilities (R&R;)
1. Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP/WMS system.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimum stock availability.
- Record all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, returns, adjustments, and scrap.
2. Material Receipt & Storage
- Verify incoming materials against Purchase Orders, Delivery Challans, and invoices.
- Ensure proper identification, labelling, lot/batch traceability, and storage.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
- Segregate accepted, rejected, quarantine, and customer-owned materials.
- Monitor slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and non-moving inventory.
- Recommend inventory reduction and disposition actions.
- Prepare inventory ageing reports.
- Resolve inventory-related issues impacting production or customer deliveries.
3. Job Work Supplier Inventory Management
- Manage inventory issued to subcontractors/job work suppliers such as PCB Assembly, Cable Assembly, Coating, Testing, Box Build, and other value-added operations.
- Maintain accurate records of materials sent to and received from job work suppliers.
- Reconcile material consumption, WIP, rejections, scrap, and finished quantities with each supplier.
- Conduct periodic inventory reconciliation and physical verification at job work supplier locations.
- Track ageing inventory lying with subcontractors and ensure timely recovery or utilization.
- Monitor supplier-wise inventory balances and ensure ERP accuracy.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Planning, Production, and Finance for inventory reconciliation and closure.
- Verify job work challans,
material transfer documents, and statutory records.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific inventory control requirements for consigned materials.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies at subcontractor locations.
4. Inventory Reconciliation
- Reconcile physical stock with ERP inventory.
- Investigate stock shortages, excesses, and transaction errors.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reconciliation.
5. Cycle Count & Physical Verification
- Conduct scheduled cycle counts.
- Support monthly and annual physical stock verification.
- Maintain stock audit records.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for inventory variances.
6. Warehouse Operations
- Maintain proper bin locations and warehouse layout.
- Ensure protected storage of electronic components and materials.
- Maintain warehouse organization in accordance with 5S standards.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization.
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain GRNs, material issue slips, stock transfer notes, subcontracting challans, return records, inventory reports, and reconciliation statements.
- Ensure complete lot/batch and serial number traceability.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
- Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Develop and implement inventory control best practices.
Qualifications
- B.E
Experience
- 5 - 8 years of experience in Inventory Management, Warehouse Operations, preferably in the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) or Automotive Electronics industry.
