Position Summary

The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the administration, performance, security, and availability of the organizations SQL Server database environment. This role manages database installations, upgrades, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and automation while ensuring the reliability and integrity of enterprise data platforms. The SQL DBA partners with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to support business-critical systems across on-premises and Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
- Monitor database health, optimize performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies for high availability and reliability.
- Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, Always On Availability Groups, and business continuity solutions.
- Implement database security, user access, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls.
- Perform database patching, upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
- Automate database administration using T-SQL, PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, and Azure automation tools.
- Support Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and hybrid cloud database environments.
- Collaborate with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, indexes, and database design.
- Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and support production incident resolution.





Required Qualifications

- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- Experience with SQL Server backup, recovery, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Solid knowledge of T-SQL, indexing, query optimization, and database security.
- Experience supporting Azure SQL services and hybrid cloud environments.
- Proficiency with PowerShell and SQL Server management tools.

Preferred Certifications

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) (preferred)
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) (preferred)
