Role & responsibilities

- Handle procurement of mechanical and utility spares, including items related to compressors, pumps, HVAC, boilers, piping, hydraulics, and other plant utilities.
- Manage procurement of MRO consumables and maintenance-related items with a solid focus on mechanical categories.
- Monitor and maintain minmax inventory levels for critical mechanical and utility spares.
- Coordinate closely with the maintenance and utility teams for breakdown, preventive maintenance, shutdown planning, and emergency requirements.
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies for mechanical and utility procurement.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and establish rate contracts/long-term agreements with suppliers.
- Conduct market research and benchmarking for mechanical spares such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, valves, fabrication items, and utility equipment.
- Identify and develop reliable vendors for indigenous and imported mechanical/utility spares.
- Support localization/indigenization initiatives to reduce dependency on imports.
- Participate in supplier evaluation and audits in coordination with QA and maintenance teams.
- Ensure timely processing and closure of PRs, POs, GRNs, MRNs, payment issues, and debit notes.




- Maintain strict adherence to procurement SOPs, compliance standards, and audit requirements.
- Handle SAP transactions including PR/PO processing, vendor master management, and data accuracy.
- Track and manage AMCs, service contracts, and warranty claims for mechanical and utility equipment.

Contribute to cost optimization and reliability improvement projects.

To manage end-to-end procurement of mechanical and utility spares, MRO items, and maintenance services, ensuring uninterrupted plant operations, optimum inventory levels, cost efficiency, and compliance with procurement policies.

Key Skills

- Strong technical understanding of mechanical components, drawings, and specifications
- Expertise in vendor development and commercial negotiation
- Good knowledge of utility systems (air, steam, water, HVAC, etc.)
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Excel for procurement and data analysis
- Strong coordination skills with maintenance and cross-functional teams
- Ability to handle urgent breakdown procurement under pressure
- Analytical mindset for costing and comparison
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
