Business Unit - Heavy Vehicle

Scope

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Sourcing Engineer to drive the sourcing of electronic components and sub-assemblies with a focus on automotive electronics.

The role focuses on strategic sourcing, cost optimization, vendor development, and supply base management to support business growth and new product development initiatives

Role & responsibilities

1. Sourcing & Procurement

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for electronic components, PCBs, sensors, controllers, harnesses, and sub-assemblies
- Lead RFQ/RFI processes, cost negotiations, and supplier finalization
- Ensure timely sourcing aligned with project timelines (NPD/NPI)

2. Costing & Value Engineering

- Perform should-cost analysis and benchmarking for electronic parts
- Drive cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE) and achieve annual cost targets
- Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier cost structures

3. Vendor Development & Management

- Develop and enhance a robust supplier base for electronics
- Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, and risk evaluations
- Work closely with suppliers to improve quality, cost, delivery (QCD)

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Collaborate with R&D;, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams
- Support design decisions with sourcing inputs (DFM, cost feasibility)
- Ensure smooth transition from development to mass production sourcing

5. Supplier Quality & Performance

- Monitor supplier performance KPIs (PPM, OTD, cost adherence)
- Drive corrective actions for supplier issues and escalations




- Ensure compliance with automotive standards (IATF, ISO, etc.)

5. Manufacturing & Process Knowledge

- Working knowledge of:
- Electronics manufacturing processes (SMT, wave soldering, conformal coating, testing)
- PCB design basics (stack-up, layout considerations)

- Familiarity with:

- Reliability testing (HALT, HASS, environmental testing)
- DFM / DFA principles

6. Strategic Sourcing Initiatives

- Support long-term sourcing strategy for electronics category
- Identify localization opportunities and reduce import dependency
- Develop alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate supply risks

Preferred candidate profile

Education

- Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- MBA (Supply Chain / Operations) Preferred

Experience

- Min 6 to 10 years in sourcing/procurement/vendor development
- Strong experience in automotive electronics or EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services)
- Prior experience with Tier-1 automotive suppliers or OEM sourcing preferred

Technical & Functional Skills

- Strong understanding of:
- Electronic components (ICs, PCBs, semiconductors, connectors, Sensors)
- BOM structure and manufacturing processes

- Expertise in:

- Costing and negotiation
- Supplier development & audits
- ERP systems (SAP preferred)
