Role & responsibilities
Position Description: Designs and analyzes moderately complex mechanical systems for Defence & Aerospace equipment and products. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on current and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Enable verification of prototypes and validation of manufactured products. Produces technical documentation of analysis and results to establish sustainable records.
Primary Responsibilities:
Designs and analyzes moderately complex mechanical systems for Defence & Aerospace equipment and products. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Enable verification of prototypes and validation of manufactured products. Produces technical documentation of analysis and results to establish sustainable records.
Position Specific Requirements:
*To design the Mechanical systems for Defense and Aerospace applications, including Antennas, Radar systems, Rugged electronics and systems which may require to lift, rotate, transport various systems
*To work on dynamic loads including structural and thermal, linkages and related computation calculations, etc
*To design the above mentioned systems to suit for the structural / thermal requirements, and do preliminary analysis for verification
*To gather and finalize the requirements prior to any new design. Perform FMEA and Risk assessment at every stage of the design development process.
*To involve with cross functional team to get the development activities to progress
*To manage own projects for the precision time lines & deliverable to suit Project management schedules
*To co-ordinate / get work done with peers and junior Engineers for timely commitment
*To prepare Manufacturing drawings/models, Assembly instructions for the designed systems
*To optimize the design for continuous improvement, cost reduction, process improvements, etc
Key Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical systems for Defence & Aerospace applications.
- Develop 3D models, manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
- Perform structural, thermal and load calculations.
- Design sheet metal enclosures, linkage mechanisms and support structures.
- Conduct FMEA, risk assessment and design validation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for product development.
- Support prototype development, testing and production.
- Drive design optimization, cost reduction and continuous improvement.
Preferred candidate profile
Required Skills
- 24 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in Automotive, Aerospace, Electronic Packaging, or Machine Design.
- Strong knowledge of structural design, sheet metal enclosures, linkage mechanisms, GD&T;, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in mechanical calculations involving loads, forces, moments, and reactions.
- Knowledge of drives, actuators, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical automation systems.
- Good understanding of materials selection, standard components, and engineering documentation.
