Overview

- The Manager, Patient Responsibility Accounts Receivable is responsible for day-to-day operational management and oversight of self-pay accounts receivable functions within Ventra Health’s Patient Responsibility Center of Excellence. This position supervises and develops a team of accounts receivable specialists and analysts, ensuring accurate patient billing, timely collections, and compliance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. The Manager drives operational excellence through effective team management, process optimization, performance monitoring, and direct involvement in complex account resolution.

Responsibilities

- Supervise, train, mentor, and develop billing specialists, analysts, and accounts receivable staff to ensure high performance and career growth.
- Monitor team performance against established KPIs including net collection rates, aging analysis, bad debt rates, and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Execute daily patient accounts receivable operations including data analysis, patient statement generation, online patient payment solutions, and collections management.
- Manage complex patient accounts, disputes, and collection issues, serving as escalation point for difficult cases.
- Generate and analyze aging analysis reports, cash flow reports, and accounts receivable metrics to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Ensure all billing and collection activities comply with HIPAA, state billing regulations, payer guidelines,



and consumer protection laws (FDCPA, TCPA, etc).
- Manage team scheduling and workload distribution to optimize productivity and coverage for Patient Responsibility Center of Excellence functions.
- Collaborate with Director and internal partners on process improvements, system updates, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Monitor billing system functionality and assist with troubleshooting technical issues affecting patient billing and collections.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay current with billing regulations, system updates, and industry best practices.
- Respond to and resolve patient billing inquiries and payment concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare operational reports for Director and leadership team regarding team performance, financial metrics, and process recommendations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field (or high school diploma/GED with 5+ years related healthcare experience).
- Minimum 5+ years of healthcare revenue cycle experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience in patient billing, collections, or accounts receivable functions.
- Certified Revenue Cycle Skilled (CRCP) or Certified Healthcare Billing and Management Executive (CHBME) preferred.
- Experience with hospital or facility-based physician billing models preferred.
