About the Company

We are a well-established, long-standing engineering manufacturing company (SME) based in Hyderabad, currently pursuing a major expansion. As part of this growth, we are looking for a young, dynamic and entrepreneurial Finance & Commercial Head to partner closely with leadership, build robust financial systems, drive financial & commercial discipline, and support strategic growth initiatives — including acquisitions and partnerships, both in India and overseas.

Role Overview

The Finance Manager & Commercial Head will be a key member of the management team, responsible for the financial health and strategic direction of the organisation. This role combines hands-on operational finance capability — budgeting, forecasting, cost control and reporting — with strategic thinking, and requires someone comfortable operating in a high-ownership, growth-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will build strong financial processes, controls and reporting discipline while providing insightful financial analysis to guide business decisions, profitability and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

- Partner with promoters and senior management to drive financial strategy and decision support.
- Provide regular visibility on key financial ratios, working capital metrics, and balance sheet indicators.
- Develop financial insights to support growth initiatives, investments, and M&A; opportunities.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control

- Lead the entire budgeting and financial forecasting process, including preparation of the annual operating plan.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models for short-term and long-term projections.
- Collaborate with department heads (Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Sales, HR, and others) to align departmental budgets with overall business objectives.
- Conduct variance analysis of actual performance against budgets/forecasts and implement corrective actions for significant deviations.
- Develop, implement and monitor cost-control strategies across raw materials,

labour and overheads to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee product costing activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standard costing methodologies.
- Manage and control capital expenditure (Capex) budgets for new equipment and projects.
- Monitor operational cost structures, margins and productivity indicators, and drive a company-wide cost management culture.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

- Prepare and present accurate, timely financial reports — monthly/annual financial statements, MIS reports, and business review documents — for senior management and the board.
- Analyse profitability by product, customer and business unit to support pricing decisions and sales strategy.
- Assess and mitigate financial risks, including market and operational risks.

Financial Systems, Governance & Compliance

- Establish and strengthen financial systems, processes, procedures, and internal checks and balances.
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury functions.
- Manage working capital and cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for business demands.
- Ensure timely, accurate statutory and tax filings, including GST, tax returns, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with FEMA regulations and, where applicable, SEBI / stock exchange listing requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, advisors and regulatory authorities.

Banking, Treasury & Corporate Governance

- Manage relationships with banks, lenders and financial institutions; oversee fund planning.
- Support company law compliances, board reporting and secretarial coordination; participate in board meetings and leadership reviews.
- Oversee the financial aspects of CSR initiatives.

Mergers & Acquisitions

- Provide creative financial structuring and solutions for potential M&A; and strategic partnerships.
- Support financial due diligence, valuation and transaction execution.

Team Leadership & Development

- Lead, mentor and manage a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy and continuous improvement within the finance function.

- Provide training and support to finance and non-finance staff on financial processes, policies and systems.

Qualifications and Experience

- CA / CMA / MBA in Finance (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) required; candidates who have completed CA Inter with MBA Finance status are also encouraged to apply.
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including at least 4–5 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment is essential, preferably in the engineering sector.
- Proven track record in budgeting, cost control, financial planning and analysis, and building finance systems/processes from the ground up.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS / Indian GAAP), financial regulations and tax laws; familiarity with FEMA regulations and listed-company environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or other leading Indian ERPs) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Exposure to M&A;, strategic finance or corporate development is preferred.

Skills and Attributes

- Analytical Skills — excellent ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends and risks.
- Communication Skills — exceptional verbal and written skills to present financial information to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Leadership Skills — proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a finance team.
