Objective: We are looking to strengthen our finance function by building systems, processes and technology that enable accurate information, operational discipline, and scalability. The objective is not simply to improve accounting, but to create a finance organisation that supports the companys next phase of growth.
Current Situation: As the business has grown, several finance activities continue to depend on individual effort rather than robust systems. This results in recurring operational issues, delays, inconsistent reporting, and avoidable management efforts. Examples include pending accounting entries, inconsistent process adherence, limited automation, underutilization of ERP capabilities, manual reporting and insufficient management visibility. While these issues are individually manageable, together they prevent the finance function from operating at the level required for a growing organisation. The business requires a finance function that is proactive rather than reactive, process-driven rather than person-dependent, and focused on continuous improvement rather than routine maintenance.
Proposed Approach:
We are evaluating two parallel approaches:
1.
Engage an experienced Finance Transformation / CFO partner to assess the current finance organisation, design and implement improved systems, processes, controls and reporting over a period of approximately six months.
2. Identify and recruit a permanent Finance Systems & Excellence Manager who can work alongside the transformation initiative, take ownership of the improvements and continuously enhance the finance function over the long term.
What Success Looks Like
At the end of this initiative, the Group should have:
- Standardised and well-documented finance processes.
- Greater operational discipline and accountability.
- Better utilisation of ERP, technology and automation.
- Stronger internal controls.
- Timely, accurate and decision-oriented management reporting.
- Reduced dependence on individuals.
- A culture of continuous process improvement within the finance function.
The ultimate objective is to build a finance organisation that not only maintains financial records, but actively improves business performance and is capable of supporting the companys long-term growth.
