The CICS System Programmer SME leads planning, installation, upgrade, and migration activities for IBM CICS Transaction Server and related ISV products in complex mainframe environments. This role troubleshoots and resolves production incidents, performs root cause analysis, and ensures systems adhere to security and compliance requirements. The SME coordinates releases and changes using z/OS tools and SMP/E, automates routine tasks (e.g., with REXX), and oversees a ticket queue to prioritize work. They collaborate with operations, engineering, and stakeholder teams, recommend modernization options, and support after-hours/on-call coverage aligned to the defined shift.

Required Qualifications

- 15+ years of hands-on CICS systems programming experience
- Expertise with CICS Transaction Server (installation, upgrade, migration, maintenance)
- Working knowledge of z/OS, Unix System Services (USS), SMP/E, REXX, Java, VSAM, and thirdparty/ISV products
- Ability to plan, coordinate, test, and implement releases, upgrades, and changes to CICS and related ISV products
- Experience diagnosing CICS and related product issues with thorough root cause analysis
- Proficiency in P2V, V2V, and P2P migrations
- Familiarity with Assembler, COBOL, and DB2 in CICS contexts (preferred)




- Bachelors degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience
- Robust troubleshooting and customer service orientation; ability to work independently and in teams
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and work the 17:30–02:20 IST shift
- Experience in banking/financial services (preferred)

- Support on-call rotations and coverage aligned to 17:30–02:20 IST; document procedures and knowledge articles.
