Job Description: Branch Credit Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Branch Credit Manager to manage end-to-end credit underwriting and portfolio quality for the branch. The candidate will be responsible for assessing customer creditworthiness, ensuring policy adherence, maintaining portfolio health, and supporting business growth through prudent credit decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesCredit Underwriting & Assessment
- Conduct detailed assessment of home loan, LAP, and affordable housing loan proposals.
- Analyze customer income, banking, repayment capacity, bureau reports, and financial documents.
- Perform personal discussions (PD), field investigations, and reference checks wherever required.
- Evaluate legal, technical, and valuation reports for property-backed loans.
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
Risk Management
- Maintain healthy portfolio quality and control delinquency levels.
- Identify early warning signals and highlight risky proposals.
- Recommend mitigants and structured solutions for borderline cases.
- Monitor fraud indicators and ensure process compliance.
Operational & Process Compliance
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance before loan sanction/disbursement.
- Coordinate with sales, operations, legal, technical, and collections teams for smooth processing.
- Maintain TAT for login-to-sanction process.
- Ensure audit readiness and closure of audit observations within timelines.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Branch Sales teams to achieve business targets without compromising asset quality.
- Guide and support relationship managers/business teams on credit policy and customer profiling.
- Build strong relationships with legal, technical, and valuation partners.
Portfolio Monitoring
- Track portfolio performance and customer repayment behavior.
- Support collection teams in resolving delinquent accounts when required.
- Provide regular MIS and portfolio insights to Regional/State Credit teams.
Eligibility CriteriaEducational Qualification
- Graduate in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA/PGDM preferred.
Experience
- 35 years of experience in Housing Finance, NBFC, or Banking sector.
- Experience in affordable housing/home loans/LAP underwriting preferred.
- Minimum 2.5 years of stability in the current or latest organization is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of credit appraisal and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of legal and technical evaluation processes.
- Familiarity with bureau analysis and income assessment methods.
- Good analytical and decision-making skills.
- Solid communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and loan processing systems.
