The Assistant Vice President (AVP) Procurement & Supply Chain will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the organization's end-to-end procurement, sourcing, vendor management, logistics, import-export operations, CAPEX procurement, and packaging development functions. The role is responsible for driving cost optimization, supply assurance, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and supplier partnerships while supporting business growth, capacity expansion, and new product introductions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Lead the organization's procurement strategy for APIs, raw materials, intermediates, solvents, primary materials, R&D; and QC consumables, packaging materials, and other business-critical requirements.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with organizational objectives for cost competitiveness, quality, risk mitigation, and supply continuity.
- Drive procurement transformation initiatives, process improvements, and digitization to enhance operational efficiency and governance.
- Establish procurement policies, controls, and performance metrics to ensure compliance and value creation.
2. Vendor & Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers, contract manufacturers, logistics providers, and service partners.
- Lead supplier qualification, development, performance evaluation, and risk management programs.
- Collaborate with Quality, R&D;, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to address supplier quality issues, complaint investigations, and CAPA implementation.
- Develop long-term supplier engagement strategies to strengthen supply resilience and support business expansion Strategic Sourcing & Recent Product Support
- Drive strategic sourcing initiatives for new product launches, alternate vendor development,
and business continuity programs.
- Identify and develop global and domestic sourcing opportunities to reduce supply risks and improve competitiveness.
- Oversee procurement support for R&D; projects, development materials, impurities, reference standards, and critical business requirements.
- Lead sourcing negotiations and contracting activities to maximize commercial advantage and supplier performance
4. DGFT, Customs & Trade Compliance
- Provide leadership and governance for import-export operations, customs clearance, and international trade compliance.
- Drive effective utilization of DGFT schemes, including Advance Authorization, EPCG and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customs authorities, DGFT officials, consultants, freight forwarders, and clearing agents.
- Ensure adherence to evolving regulatory requirements while minimizing operational and compliance risks.
5. Supply Chain & Logistics Excellence
- Lead end-to-end inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure uninterrupted material flow and customer service excellence.
- Drive inventory optimization, transportation efficiency, warehouse coordination, and supply chain performance improvements.
- Establish cost-control measures and monitor logistics budgets to achieve operational and financial targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align procurement and supply chain activities with production and business plans.
6. CAPEX Procurement & Infrastructure Projects
- Lead procurement strategy and execution for all CAPEX investments, engineering projects, plant expansions, utilities, and infrastructure development initiatives.
- Oversee sourcing and contracting for equipment, machinery, engineering services, and project-related procurement.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical utilities including fuel, gas, power, and other operational requirements.
- Support project teams in achieving timelines, quality standards, and budget objectives.
Packaging Development & Commercialization Support
- Provide strategic oversight for packaging material sourcing, supplier development, packaging innovation, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Lead packaging development activities, including artwork management, regulatory compliance, and supplier coordination.
- Ensure timely readiness of packaging components to support product launches and commercial operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in packaging quality, sustainability, and cost effectiveness.
8. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor procurement, sourcing, logistics, and trade compliance teams to build a high-performance organization.
- Partner with Executive Leadership, Operations, Finance, Quality, R&D;, Engineering, and Commercial teams to support strategic business objectives.
- Present procurement and supply chain performance metrics, risk assessments, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
