Role & responsibilities
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, PESO, PNGRB, OISD-117/118/144, Setting Protection Act, and DGCA guidelines for NFZ if applicable
- Maintain licenses, permits, and documentation for hazardous chemical storage & handling
- Liaise with regulatory bodies: PESO, KSPCB, DISH, Fire Department, NMPA, etc.
Operational Safety;
- Conduct daily safety rounds, permit-to-work audits, and ensure compliance during tank truck, tanker, and pipeline operations
- Implement SOPs for handling Class A/B/C petroleum products, chemicals, and LPG/LNG
- Monitor hot work, confined space entry, working at height, and critical maintenance jobs
- Oversee contractor safety management and induction/training
Risk Management & Emergency Preparedness
- Carry out HIRA, JSA, and HAZOP follow-ups for terminal activities
- Maintain & test ERDMP. Conduct monthly mock drills for fire, spillage, and gas leak scenarios
- Ensure availability and upkeep of firefighting systems,
gas detectors, SCBA, and PPE
Training & Culture
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and refresher training for employees & contract staff
- Drive BBS programs and incident reporting culture
- Investigate incidents/near-misses, prepare RCA reports, and track CAPA closure
Environment & Health
- Monitor effluent treatment, VOC emissions, and hazardous waste disposal as per KSPCB norms
- Conduct workplace monitoring: noise, illumination, air quality
- Coordinate periodic medical check-ups for employees exposed to chemicals
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain HSE MIS, safety statistics, leading/lagging indicators
- Prepare monthly HSE reports for management and statutory submissions
- Update safety manuals, work permits, and risk registers
