This is a complete business ownership role. The General Manager will be the single point of accountability for the entire Gold & Diamonds division profitability, sales, inventory, purchase, people, security, compliance and expansion. The position reports directly to the Director / Chairman.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Ownership & P&L;

- Full accountability for divisional P&L; revenue, gross margin, operating cost and net profitability
- Prepare annual business plan, sales budget, cost budget and CapEx proposals
- Monitor break-even, ROI on inventory and working capital efficiency
- Present monthly business review, MIS and variance analysis to Management

2. Sales & Revenue

- Set and drive sales targets by category (gold, diamond, studded, silver, coins) and by counter
- Improve footfall, conversion ratio, average bill value and repeat customer share
- Handle HNI clients, wedding and bulk orders personally
- Manage gold savings schemes, exchange, buy-back and old-gold valuation policy
- Control making charges, wastage, discounts and scheme offers to protect margin

3. Inventory & Stock Custody

- Total custody and accountability of gold, diamond, silver and cash stock
- Ensure daily physical stock tally with system; zero unexplained variance
- Manage stock-to-sales ratio, stock ageing, dead stock liquidation and category mix
- Approve stock transfers, melting, re-polishing, repair and karigar job orders
- Maintain karigar issue–return registers with defined wastage norms
- Conduct periodic and surprise stock audits; ensure insurance coverage is adequate and current

4. Purchase & Vendor Management

- Plan procurement based on sales trend, seasonality, festival/wedding demand and stock ageing
- Negotiate rates, making charges, credit terms and return policies with suppliers, karigars and diamond vendors
- Track daily gold/diamond rate movement; manage rate-fixing and hedging decisions as per Management policy
- Empanel, evaluate and rationalise vendors on quality, cost, delivery and reliability

5. Marketing & Business Development





- Plan and execute marketing calendar — festivals, Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras, wedding season
- Manage ATL/BTL, digital, social media and local promotion campaigns within budget
- Build customer database, CRM, loyalty programmes and referral network
- Support current showroom/branch expansion — location study, feasibility, layout and launch

6. People & Team Leadership

- Lead the entire showroom team — sales, backend, karigar liaison, accounts, security and support
- Manpower planning, recruitment coordination with HR, induction and product training
- Set KRAs, drive incentive schemes, conduct performance reviews and manage attrition
- Build a culture of integrity, discipline, grooming and customer-first service

7. Customer Experience

- Own end-to-end customer experience — greeting, presentation, billing, delivery and after-sales
- Manage complaints, repairs, returns and exchange resolution
- Maintain showroom ambience, visual merchandising, display standards and hygiene

8. Security & Risk Management

- Own showroom security — CCTV, alarm systems, strong room, locker protocol and key custody
- Enforce daily cash handling, banking and vault procedures
- Manage security agency performance and staff frisking/entry-exit protocols
- Ensure fire safety, emergency preparedness and adequate insurance for stock, cash-in-transit and premises

9. Compliance & Legal

- Ensure compliance with BIS Hallmarking (HUID), GST, Income Tax, PMLA/KYC for high-value transactions and Legal Metrology
- Ensure statutory registrations, trade licence, shops & establishment and labour law compliance (PF, ESI, PT, Minimum Wages)
- Maintain audit-ready records; coordinate internal, statutory and stock audits
- Ensure accurate documentation for cash transactions above threshold limits

10. Systems & Governance

- Implement and maintain jewellery ERP/billing system discipline
- Develop SOPs for sales, stock, purchase, cash and security processes
- Drive process improvement, cost control and digitisation initiatives
- Ensure divisional readiness for Group-level governance, ISO and audit standards
