About the Role

We are looking for a technically skilled and detail-oriented Custom Survey Programmer with an emphasis in Front-End Development to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining online communities using Kinesis Panel, programming complex, logic-heavy surveys in Qualtrics, and crafting polished, responsive front-end experiences that elevate the respondent journey. You will sit at the intersection of market research methodology and web development, turning complex research designs into seamless digital experiences.

All support activities and client-facing coordination are conducted during Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End Development & Kinesis Panel Community Sites

- Design, build, and maintain respondent community portals using Kinesis Panel, including custom layouts, member dashboards, and activity feeds
- Write clean, semantic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+) to create responsive, cross-browser-compatible community site templates
- Implement custom UI components and interactive elements using modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or vanilla JS)
- Apply CSS animations, transitions, and design systems to deliver polished, on-brand respondent experiences
- Integrate custom styling, widgets, and JavaScript logic within the Kinesis Panel environment, working within its templating constraints
- Manage panel community features including registration flows, profiling pages, reward displays, and member engagement modules
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and mockups into pixel-perfect community experiences
- Troubleshoot front-end rendering issues across devices and browsers (mobile-first mindset required)

- Program complex surveys in Qualtrics including advanced skip logic, display logic, embedded data, and quota

- Build sophisticated JavaScript customizations within Qualtrics using the Qualtrics JavaScript API (QSF manipulation, event listeners, custom validation)
- Develop custom survey themes and CSS overrides to align surveys with brand guidelines
- Implement advanced features such as conjoint/MaxDiff, A/B test blocks, piped text, and dynamic question rendering
- Audit and QA surveys for logic accuracy, mobile responsiveness, device compatibility, and accessibility
- Work with market research teams to translate questionnaire specs into functional, respondent-friendly survey flows
- Manage survey distribution links, anonymous vs. authenticated flows, and panel integration handoffs

Survey Programming — Decipher / Forsta (Nice to Have)

- Program surveys in Forsta Decipher using XML-based scripting
- Apply Decipher's Python-based logic for complex conditional flows and data piping
- Build custom HTML/CSS/JS components within Decipher surveys
- Know shell programming

Collaboration & QA

- Partner with project managers, QA, and data teams to ensure survey instruments meet methodology requirements
- Join client and customer calls to gather requirements, present deliverables and provide technical consultation
- Perform thorough QA testing of all survey instruments and community site features prior to launch
- Maintain version control and documentation of survey scripts and front-end components
- Troubleshoot live survey issues and deploy rapid fixes with minimal respondent disruption
- Provide timely technical support and issue resolution during PST business hours

Required Qualifications





- 3+ years of hands-on front-end development experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Demonstrated experience building or customizing Kinesis Panel community sites
- Proven proficiency programming complex surveys in Qualtrics, including JavaScript customization and advanced logic
- Strong command of responsive design principles and mobile-first development
- Proficiency with front-end frameworks and libraries including AngularJS, jQuery, React
- Experience with CSS preprocessors (SCSS/LESS) and front-end build tools
- Solid understanding of the DOM, browser APIs, and cross-browser debugging
- Solid understanding of web design patterns
- Ability to read and write clean, maintainable JavaScript without relying on frameworks as a crutch
- Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON data structures for panel/survey integrations
- Backend shell programming experience, including Unix/Linux command-line scripting, bash scripting, file management and automation tasks
- Comfortable joining client and customer calls to discuss technical requirements, present builds and provide solutions
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to respondent experience quality
- Availability to provide support during Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Decipher (Forsta) survey programming — XML scripting, Python logic
- Familiarity with Git/version control workflows
- Exposure to server-side scripting and backend automation beyond shell (e.g. Python, Node.js)
- Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards
- Background in market research operations or online panel management
- Experience with Qualtrics XM Directory, workflows, and API integrations
- Knowledge of survey data formats (SPSS, CSV) and basic data hygiene practices
