The Production Manager will lead planning and execution initiatives on production lines, ensuring on-time delivery, optimal inventory management, and cost efficiency. The incumbent will oversee production scheduling, inventory control, and cross-functional coordination to meet organizational goals and customer demands. This role is critical in driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Role & responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and manage daily production schedules based on customer orders and inventory forecasts.
- Monitor shop floor workflow, manpower allocation, and machine utilization (e.g., crimping, cutting, and stripping machines) to maximize line efficiency.
- Coordinate with procurement, stores, and maintenance to ensure uninterrupted material availability and equipment uptime.
- Ensure all wire harness assemblies comply with exact engineering drawings, work instructions, and industry standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Partner with the Quality Assurance (QA) team for in-process inspections, testing (continuity, pull force, etc.), and addressing customer audits.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce rework, scrap, and defect rates.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of production supervisors, technicians, and assembly operators.
- Conduct regular training on manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Set performance metrics,
track attendance, and build a highly motivated shop floor culture.
- Prepare and present daily/weekly/monthly production reports, including MIS data and KPIs (OEE, defect rates).
- Enforce all plant safety, environmental, and occupational health protocols.
- Coordinate with the purchase department to ensure material availability for uninterrupted production.
- Manage inventory levels, including raw materials (RMs), work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods (FG), to prevent production disruptions.
- Perform monthly cycle counts and reconcile inventory at subcontractor locations.
- Act as an interface between Sales, Purchase, and Manufacturing to address customer urgencies and priorities.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to transparent finished goods and raw materials for use.
- Review capacity demand versus installed capacity, identifying and mitigating potential constraints.
- Conduct gap analysis of carry forward revenue and CRD (Customer Required Date) failures, publishing monthly reports and holding weekly reviews.
Preferred candidate profile
- BE/ B.Tech / Diploma Electrical/Mechanical/E&C; Engineering with minimum 10 to 15 Years of relevant experience.
- Hands on experience in planning and managing daily production schedules based on customer orders and inventory forecasts in wiring harness
