- Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, and overall health status of neonates.
- Provide specialized care to critically ill newborns, including premature babies and those with congenital conditions.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and nutrition as prescribed.
- Assist in procedures like intubation, ventilation, and blood transfusions.
- Patient & Family Support
- Support and educate parents on neonatal care, feeding, and handling.
- Facilitate kangaroo mother care (KMC) and promote bonding.
- Address parental concerns and provide emotional support.
- Technical Skills
- Operate NICU equipment like ventilators, incubators, and monitors.
- Manage IV lines, central lines, and feeding tubes.
- Conduct screenings like hearing tests and retinopathy checks.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate medical records and document care provided.
- Participate in rounds, case discussions, and handover reports.
- Emergency Response
- Handle neonatal emergencies like respiratory distress or cardiac issues.
- Perform CPR and other life-saving interventions when needed.
- Required Skills
- Nursing or equivalent with NICU experience.
- Valuable communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly.
