Role & responsibilities

Cost Estimation & Analysis

- Perform detailed cost estimation for precision machining components and tooling.
- Develop cost models covering:
- CNC Turning, VMC (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis machining)
- Welding processes, Laser cutting & Waterjet cutting
- Special processes (surface treatments, heat treatment, coatings, etc.)
- Analyze BOMs, drawings, and manufacturing processes to derive accurate cost breakdowns.
- Evaluate cycle times, material utilization, tooling, and machine rates.
- Interpret engineering drawings (GD&T;), tolerances, and aerospace standards.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through: Process optimization, Alternate manufacturing routes, Design-for-cost inputs
- Experience in supplier negotiations and cost validation
- Proficiency in:
- Excel-based cost models
- ERP/MRP systems (preferred)

Supplier Management & Negotiation





- Work closely with suppliers to:
- Validate and benchmark quotations
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and cost breakdown transparency
- Develop and maintain a should-cost model to support negotiations.
- Build robust relationships with machining vendors, fabrication suppliers, and special process providers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

- Collaborate with:
- Engineering (Design & Manufacturing), Procurement, Production teams
- Drive cost improvement initiatives across suppliers and internal processes.
- Maintain updated databases of: Machine rates, Material costs, Standard process costs
- Support value engineering and cost reduction programs.
